Rod Grosvenor, has done this. He got a kit from www.forcedairtech.com He really likes it. I'm probably going to turbo my 90 N/A legacy next spring/summer (2003) I will probably use the same shop/people that Rod used. This summer's project is a tranny swap

I've seen Rod's setup in person, and it's nice. I didn't get a
chance to ride, but i hear it's brisk.
Done right, you can turbo anything

I was thinking of using the STi (IVHF?) ball bearing turbo. I
suppose I really need to know all the parts that go into a kit,
ensuring that I have everything I need.
Along the same lines, what's the diameter of the MAF? I'm thinking
of using the Prodrive trick of doubling a turbo with a ram air.
Thanks though, I'll check out what Forced Air Technologies has!

Frequently we are asked what the kits contain:
1: The Turbo Charger for the Stage 1 and 2 kits is a T3-TO4E. The stage 3 kit is a GT25
Dual Roller Bearing Turbo.
2: The up pipe (2 1/8 inch) and down pipe
(2 1/2 inch) including a 2 1/2 inch high flow
catalytic converter section which includes 2
O2 sensor ports is included.
3:The Stage 1 kit comes with the pressure side
manifold from the Turbo to the intake manifold and the air intake manifold to the Turbo Charger.
4: The Stage 2 and 3 kits come with an intercooler and all of the piping to install it.
5: All kits come with all of the oil supply lines to the Turbo and the Turbo oil return line.
6: All kits come with a fuel pump.
7: All of the Turbo kits come with an RRFPR
(rising rate fuel pressure regulator), a blow
off valve, and a voltage clamp for all of the
speed density equipped cars. They come with
a K&N air filter.
8: They come with all of the necessary hardware and full color photo instructions
to install.
9: All of our kits contain everything to Turbo Charge your vehicle. The only thing that the
customer has to supply is a minimum of 2 1/4
inch exhaust system from the catalytic converter and back. The factory exhaust is
very inadequate.

The stock n/a MAF inside diameter is 68 mm and there is a small
beveled ring inside of it that narrows down to 60mm. What is this
doubling with ram air? did I miss something?

IIRC, in both the WRX P1 and the WRX UK2000, Prodrive relocated the
intercooler to the front, right behind the bumper/under-spoiler and
moved the air filter so that it was sitting right behind the hood
scoop. That's what I meant.

Hello-I`m Rod with the A/M turbo kit on my NA motor; love it! I have some other suggestions to upgrade your set-up that`ll really make a difference. When you contact Forced Air, tell him Rod referred you for a bett

Hey Rod, how much did this project cost you, in total? I'm interested
in doing this to my N/A but my funds are running low, so I need to
know how much I should cut back my other expenses...

So these forced air tech guys have a kit specifically for the EJ22 NA
motor that will bolt straight on? You speak of inspiration from some
people in NZ doing the same thing. Is there a similar company in New
Zealand (its where I live).
I have a 90 Legacy Gx Wagon with an EJ22. Its a bit rough but i
bought it intending that it would be a bit of a fix up. If you bolt
a turbo on the engine I'm guessing there is a fair bit of work to do
further down the drivetrain?
Anyway its all a bit far down the track at the moment but I'd like to
pack as much knowledge in as I can before I go ahead.

Iain-A realistic total to do it right would be around $3500.00. This includes the ignition, exhaust, tuning, etc. to bring it all together. If you want MY total & what I`ve done, post me back.---ROD (AZ.)

Hi-Visit www.forcedairtech.com & see what he has to offer; send an e-mail with any specific requests. I have`nt had to beef up any drivetrain components with the Stage 1 kit with the Stage 111 turbo & I just love the kit. It`s a bolt-on except for the exhaust hook-up. Good luck---ROD (AZ.)
