Hey Ben. I'm not sure that pistons for the EJ22T are nonexistent. Does anybody rember that dude named Byron who allegedly had about 3 million horsepower at the wheels? As I recall, he bought a 4 door Impreza with an EJ22T from the boys at JC Sports then did a bunch of tricks like front mount intercooler, mounting the throttle body on the front and some kind of magic head work. I'll bet that if he wasn't running some kind of razoo pistons, he wouldn't even be able to make 2 million horsepower to the wheels.

Yes, Byron has custom pistons in his impreza. I asked him about it when i
was at Rim of the World Rally last May.

If you want the "real razoo" pistons we can supply them forged, cyro
treated, teflon coated skirts and ceramic coated top. Web site should
be up in a day or two $1000.00 a set SDR Products. Com

Bill's right Ben. The pistons are not plentiful, but they are out there if you look hard enough. I have the 2001 PAECO catalog.
http://www.paeco.com/ They list Subaru High Performance Pistons starting for $420 per set. Other places out there are in the piston making biz and would probably have competitive prices and maybe even much better. Your mechanic may be able to help you find someone.
Byron's company is called B-Spec USA.
Here's the website

I think you have indicated you would like to engage in a little rally competition. Make sure you check out the rules for the class you want to play in or you could end up in some other class running against Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Vipers with big time engine work to make them *REALLY* fast.
Let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks Larry and Bill, those are good links that I could show the
mechanic and I think I have to ask them to arrange the time and work
on the engine with those piston!BTW, does the OEM EJ22T piston not
good for more boost? since I boost the car near around 13psi and I am
think to by pass the solenard and boost up to 15psi(maybe??)
I still not decide which way to go, but I think it will become more
clear soon!
I'm now little bit toward to rebuild the entire engine since I am
just thinking where can I get parts if I swap the EJ20T engine and
will the emission pass while I have one more year to go for the test!
Also will the 3" turbo exhaust fits it directly on the EJ20T engine?
Anyone know it , please post , thanks!
I know I am keep asking but thanks for all you guys that keep reply
and solve all the questions

There are a few pistons available for the EJ22T from stock up to the
ones I mentioned. I plan on going to at least 15lbs using the stock
EJ22T pistons with a water to air intercooler and don't think there
will be any problems. We built the original engine that was in Byrons
car and were running 19lbs boost on the stock pistons with a front
mount intercooler and Garrett turbo. When he was back here he said he
had run as high as 26lbs but with special pistons. The EJ20T should
fit the exhaust because you could use the EJ22T downpipe. Have you
checked the price on a EJ22T shortblock assy? We just used one on a
WRX with a blown motor.
