I have a couple T3's (40 trim from Volvo 240 and Saab 9000)and I am
wanting to replace that little thing on my stock '91 T Legacy.
Anyone have details re: the manifold bolt pattern and how it would
fit the T3 on these Legacies?

Garrett T3 Install ?
THe IHI on the turbo Legacy has a mounting pattern quite different
from the Garrett. THe IHI is more of less of a triangle shape and the
Garrett is square. I would suggest getting the upper part of the turbo
Legacy up-pipe and after some very careful measuring have someone cut
and modify the pipe or better yet make a replacement. We had a good
setup with a Garrett T3/28 hybrid with a front mount IC, fuel control,
exhaust, and such the white Imprezza that Byron now has turned a 13.58
1/4 mile at 5280'altitude.

Garrett T3 Install ?
Thanks for the reply...I guess I expected the bolt patterns to be
different. From what you know, would I be able to make a mounting
plate that would bolt onto the manifiold and then also have the bolt
pattern for my T3?

Garrett T3 Install ?
I would imagine it would be possible but after making such an adapter
you would have to deal with the height change,downpipe match and the
intake and outlet. I think you could end up having a lot of time and
money invested in something that might not work very well. The IHI's
are available in a lot of sizes and you might be able to buy one, sell
the Garretts and come out ahead. I have a IHI TD05 from a MY'99 WRX
that looks like it is close to bolt on with a change in outlet and
intake sizes and configuration,it is big and I will have to resort to
a few tricks to help prevent lag. The matching of turbo to engine is
almost a kind of a science and you might want to look at Corky Bells
book "Maximum Boost" or a book by Hugh Mcinnes "Turbochargers"
