My engine is making a new noise, from what I can tell it is coming
from the front part of the engine (place closest to your eyes when
looking at it in the car). I'm not at all sure what the problem could
be. It seems as though the engine is knocking, but this noise and
vibration only happens at 1250 to 1450 rpm. Engine runs normal at any
other rpm. The CEL isn't on so I'm totally clueless here. Does
anybody have an idea??
Also while on the subject of warning lights, I am also puzzled on why
my airbag light comes on after using the horn.

Check the bolt holding the crank pulley on they have been known to
come loose and if they are left loose for a long enough time there can
be damage to the crankshaft itself.

On the airbag light it sounds like you may have a problem with what is
called a spiral cable in the steering column it connects to the airbag
system and the spiral cable allows the steering wheel to be turned
This is probably best left to someone trained to work on these
systems.

After checking the crank pulley, look at your belt idler (below the alternator/AC) & see if this is wobbling or squeaking when you first start the car cold. I replaced mine at 130k as it was starting to go away. Easy job & a good maintenance update. Lastly, listen for noise(s) behind your front engine cover (when cold) to see if they come from there. I don`t know your miles but a belt/tensioner/idler problem may exist. Good luck---ROD (AZ.)

Ok, I went out to check my car today, and started it up cold, and the
noise was gone. Because the engine idles over 2k until it warms up,
it doesn't make any abnormal noises. The noises only occur between
1250 and 1500 rpm. Once the idle dropped, i revved it to 1300 and no
noise. But as the engine warmed up completely the noise came back,
like a slight knocking sound. I checked the crank pulley, and
everything is tight. The engine runs quiet and normal at all rpm
ranges except 1250 to 1500. The noise does seem to be coming from
behind the front engine cover, but obvisously i can't do much to get
there. Also to note because it only happens 1250 to 1500, the noise
is only apparent when starting off in first gear as i let the clutch
out, and is not apparent under any other driving circumstance. I
guess i will have to take it to the local dealership, not sure if i
should just trust any mechanic on our engine.

First of all, your engine is idling WAY TOO HIGH when cold! Something`s fishy in River City! If you`re not completely sure of a local dealership`s prowess, look for an independent with at least 10-15 yrs. experience. BTW, my engine idles (cold) at 1200-1300 rpm & warm at 600 in neutral. If the timing belt & associated parts have`nt been changed every 60k miles, then your noise is probably related to that. Good luck & let us know what you find.---ROD (AZ.)
