Timing Retard
Posted: Fri Jan 25, 2002 9:26 am
I've found the same to be true on my '92 Turbo Legacy. Usually above 11 psi I
feel as if the car is actually pulling back rather than pushing forward! I
figured it was due to either the turbo not being able to make any more power
or that the increased compression gets too hot due to the lack of an
intercooler. That said I know people on this list are running 13 psi without
an intercooler. But based on what I feel I think my car would actually be
slower if I turned the boost up further!!! What do u guys think?

Subject: [BC-BFLegacyWorks] Timing Retard ??
My '91 Turbo Legacy with a manual boost controller will hold 10-11
psi no problem. The problem is that my performance drops with higher
boost. I am sure this is a timing issue. What is the degree of
retard under boost for these cars? I want to put the light on it and
pressurize my MAP to 9 psi and watch the timing change. If I know
what stock retard is I could compare results.
Thanks,
Matt Reese
