Added another Alfa and it will be transported to Vancouver in a few weeks. 1963 Sprint, that is the coupe version of my Spider, and is almost through a restoration. Body has been done and painted white, but the engine bay is not. Has everything except a rear quarter window. Front and rear lights nee...

My first car carries my most mortifying experience. The story will take this thread back a generation. I finished high school in 1954, and with a summer job had saved up enough to buy a 1931 Ford Model A coupe--for $40. It had tall skinny wheels and tires, perhaps 22X3.5 wheels, which did not look c...

Something Different
And Now For Something Completely Different. In driving up one of the mountain passes east of Vancouver there were a few cyclists--some roadies and some tourists with panniers. The rise from 700 feet to over 4000 must be a grind. :? Ahead on a straight there appeared to be the tallest bike or cyclist...

Dealers now seem keen for business. New I/C arrived and I asked to book a specific time. It was 4;30 on Tuesday. Just bring it now, leave it for tomorrow and we'll have a car for your use. 09 Impreza hatch back, Service dept says it is based upon the old Leg chassis--didn't know that. They phoned at...

5 eat
I guess I could have read the manual more thoroughly, but then I wouldn't make any "discoveries". I thought the up and down shifter would only function in the Sport" position. Anyway--while going down a long grade in "Drive" I pushed the "minus" button on the steer...

The head service guy pointed out that the fins had been flattened in the shape that conformed to the rubber gasket that guides the air flow through the cooler. The PO had driven into a severe snow storm and it packed in. Obviously, driving too slow. Enough boost would have kept melting it. J...

Where did my post go? I was trying to say why buy a turbo when you can buy the ebay TURBO SIMULATOR! It goes in your tailpipe and makes powerful turbo sounds. The harder you step on the gas the better your car sounds! I spent $400 on a 16G for nothing... Are you sure that is not a TURBO STIMULATOR?...

Weird When I bought the car in January I looked under the hood and only noticed that the battery hold-down bar was showing some corrosion. Saturday was a nice day and got to cleaning up the battery and in the good light saw that the lower row of fins on the intercooler were bent down. So, with a sma...

My favorite is my 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, which is a long description for a short car. :-) The model was new in 1955, and designed by one of the most successful racing teams in history. The intention was class wins in the MIlle Miglia and the other long race-The Targa Florio. So the car wa...

Ooops  Learning about the 5eat. Turned right from one thoroughfare to another, but had used the manual shifter to gear down to the red light. With the old one--in any range- when floored it would shift at 5800. Not on this one. I forgot it was in first, floored it to get around an aggressive ...

This may seem a doom-bomb, but the crash last fall was so much like the 1929 one you wouldn't believe it. And so far, the first quarter of this year is worst than the first quarter of 1930. All the so-called stimulus is not working to restore general prosperity and further applications will only mak...

Tranny 05 GT Wagon The AccessPort moves the waste gate opening from around 11.5 to 15 and manages the ignition curve such that I can run with 91 octane. :-) :-) Something I didn't know about the Sportshift is that when shifting at 6000, line pressure is increased making for a very solid thunk as it ...

Acknowledged Kill
This happened a couple of years ago when the TWagon had the high-stall converter, which helped a nice launch. After dark with my mountain bike on the trailer hitch--so it looked slow. 8) Going down a boulevard with one lane for traffic and one for parking and stopped at a light. Dude in a Maxima 3.5...

Drove the 40 miles to visit the guys at Rocket Rally yesterday. They are busy on team cars as well as customer cars. One of the latter with what seemed to be a very strong engine was being broken-in on the dyno. Even with the dyno's silencing stack to the outside it was loud :-D Bought a used Access...
