CES BEP VF11 vs. VF12

I currently have a CES TBE with the BEP for the stock VF11 installed. I will be putting in a VF12. Will the BEP for the VF11 work for the VF12? I e-mailed CES Racing and he responded that they are not familiar with the VH12 there in Australia. Now, he did in fact say VH12 in his response. I wonder i...

I am using Carbotech Bobcat pads on my 91SS and really like them. Very little dust and stop great. When I put them on I also installed new Brembo OE discs, with a fresh machining on them. Also installed Goodridge stainless brake lines at that time.

OK. Thanks to all of you for your input. A WRX intercooler is what I'll do, sooner or later. Now i'll start reviewing WRX IC installs and make plans to get r done.

As far as intercoolers go, which is the best way to go. The Saab or WRX? Maybe this response can stay with this topic, and further IC discussion for my application I should probably post on the Intercooler section.

Doesn't crank HP refer to the power before it goes through the transmission? What mfgs. reference, ie 160hp for a stock SS. That is the number I need to compare with. EDIT: Aren't crank horsepower and brake horsepower interchangeable terms?

I am going to get a boost gage and the vf12 in first, and then work on getting a plan and parts together to install a IC. If it is not running well after the vf12 is in I'll just have to accelerate the IC install plan.

That whole aspect of the ECU, codes, clearing them, etc., is untouchable for my 91SS. My CEL has been on since I've had the car. The codes it shows are for the knock sensor and the solenoid gizmo under the passenger intake manifold. Changed both of them out, real fun jobs, and still have the codes. ...

replace both rears

For balance it would be best to replace both rears. They are eight way adjustable now. If the left one went out, is the right one also going to blow soon? I would guess that there is a good probabability of that. You would get the better warranty also.

IC first or turbo first?

The opportunity to purchase a vf12 came up, and I will be picking it up this weekend. The rear cam seal weeps and will have the turbo out to make it easier to get at the cam seal to replace it. Thought that would be a good time get the vf12 in. Getting an intercooler is a step in the evolution of en...

how much boost?

What would be the highest safest boost with a vf12 in a '91SS, no IC, 3"CES TBE, K&N panel filter? Don't want to break anything. Also, what would your guess be for crank HP?

I've been thinking about getting new tires also. Currently have 195/60/15 which have a sidewall height of 117. 205/55/15 have a sidewall height of 112.75. What would this do to the look of the tire in the wheel well? The 205 is wider. It won't rub on account of this, will it? Thinking about Continen...

Not a good idea at all to use your torque wrench to turn counter clock wise. Not the proper tool for the job. Use a half inch drive socket with half inch drive breaker bar. A cheater pipe could be useful. On my job, for a bolt that tight I would use 3/4 drive.

When I did my strut/spring changeout I noticed that area was packed full of dirt. Took that cover off and must have chipped out ten pounds of packed in dried mud. Looking at it, I knew it couldn't be doing anything good to that pipe, but never thought about it causing a leak. Glad now I took the tim...

Taking the up pipe out with the turbo sounds good. That means one less joint to break open. When you undo the down pipe is there enough movement there to get the turbo/upipe out?

'91 SS rear cam seal leaking

The rear cam seal is leaking, and there might be other small oil weeps in that area forward of the turbo. Does not look like a simple job to replace that o-ring. It looks to me like the up pipe and the turbo have to come off. Which means a number of gaskets and crush washers will need to be replaced...

I'd like to put a strut tower brace on my '91. Do you like that STi piece? Where did you source it from and how much did it cost? Does anybody else have another brand installed or reccommend one?
