FS: 1994 Legacy Touring Wagon, SLC UT
I've owned the car since December 2009. Currently with 240kish miles. It's been a winter beater and outdoor adventure vehicle for the time that I've had it. Good: It's a turbo wagon! Lifted on King springs and 1998 Outback struts. Fitted with 02 WRX leather seats (original seats available as well). ...

SLC, UT - FS - Legacy turbo front seats
Swapped the seats out of my 94 turbo wagon. Overall in pretty good shape, considering the age. Foam is breaking down on the driver seat and there's some wear on the cover. One stain on the passenger seat, otherwise it's in good shape. No seatbelt receivers, as I had to swap those over to the new sea...

Re: Touring Wagon tackles the White Rim
Looks like a challenging and fun drive! I miss doing that kind of off-roading. Challenging, physically punishing on a street car suspension and even a little terrifying when driving along sheer drop-offs into canyon bottoms. Worst section was actually a high-speed run through deep snow and mud towa...

Touring Wagon tackles the White Rim
The White Rim is a 100+ mile 4x4 trail through the Island of the Sky district of Utah's Canyonlands National Park. Primarily carved by uranium miners in the 1950s, it runs through one of the most barren and desolate landscapes in the lower 48 states. I'm sure I'm not the first to take a Subaru aroun...

Re: looking for duty C bypass info
Thank you much. I was pretty confident based on multimeter readings and examining the FSM pages but sometimes independent verification helps ease doubts.

Re: looking for duty C bypass info
I'm preparing to do this mod on my 94 turbo wagon in advance of an extended desert off road trip. From what I'm able to gather, the duty C solenoid wire on the first gen Legacy should be the white with black stripe, correct? Testing this wire I get 9.1 volts with the FWD fuse in and ~.1 volts with t...

WTB (UT): Turbo Legacy wheel
Kind of a long shot, but I'm looking for a single 15-inch turbo Legacy wheel. I'm planning to go to all-terrain tires on my next go 'round and would like to have a fifth wheel to use for full-size spare duty when out on trail. Reasonable rash isn't an issue, but no bent or broken stuff. Thanks.

Re: Funny snow wrecks with 1 Legacy
Guessing nobody around there uses winter tires? Some do, but snow tires were not the problem. I live very near to where this happened. The road (400 North in Bountiful, UT... look it up on Google street view) is very steep between 900 East and 1300 East. The cars descending into the frame of the vi...

WTB: Longshot - 3" midpipe
Looking for a 3 inch midpipe on the cheap. I already have a downpipe and axle back, just need something I can modify to connect them. eBay catbacks are ~$125 but I'd rather not go that route and have junk left over.

Re: Quick trip up the mountain
I currently shoot with a Canon T2i (aka 550D) and two lenses, the Canon 10-22mm EF-s f/3.4-4.5 USM and Canon 24-70mm EF f/2.8L. The shots on the first post were with an older Canon Rebel DSLR I'd borrowed.

Re: Metallic shriek... wheel bearing?
There was a teeeeeeny little rock wedged between the backing plate and the rotor. Never would have seen it if I hadn't been on the hunt back there. Thanks for the sound advice.

Re: Metallic shriek... wheel bearing?
Good thought. I didn't think to check the backing plate. I'll do that first.
The car sees a fair amount of rough driving (lots of washboarded, potholed dirt roads at speed) so I figure much of the suspension is worn/stressed. I guess that's why my mind jumps to more serious problems first.

Metallic shriek... wheel bearing?
My 94 Legacy Touring Wagon has developed a loud metallic shriek from the driver's front wheel area. This comes a few hundred miles after a replacement of the brake rotor, pads and strut/spring combo. It started immediately after going over a deep road dip at an angle and the intensity of the squeal ...

Re: Some long exposure pictures I took.
That brush pile put off some interesting sparks. How long were the exposures? A good (or even decent) tripod will make long exposure work much more rewarding. You don't even need super long exposures if you're trying to get trails from passing cars. This shot was only 10 seconds. http://farm3.static...

Thanks guys. It did amazingly well. I've done a fair amount of snow and ice driving but this little car handled mud very well considering it's riding on generic all-seasons.

Re: Quick trip up the mountain
From my near-disastrous outing to Red Breaks in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5110/5587550183_51527760db_b.jpg The desert roads in southern Utah get very, very sketchy when wet. The sand and clay turn into extremely slick mud. As I was doing a little...

Road trip video
I've been experimenting with shooting video from outside the car using a Delkin Fat Gecko. I shot this on a roadtrip last week and was pretty happy with how it came out. This is part of Utah Highway 12 between the towns of Boulder and Escalante, seen from my driver's door. http://www.youtube.com/wat...
