Re: 1990-2004 Legacy Upgrade Rear (and front) Wiper Blades
Best wiper blade I have ever seen by far is the PIAA silicone super sporza. A friend of mine took them off his 2005 GTO after 1 year to replace just for maintenance, I took them from him and they clipped right on my car, they didn't hit anything but they were definately longer than stock, I think 22...

Re: fuel tank leak
I've had a couple fuel leaks in the past. The first one was from replacing the fuel pump several times and the gasket finally started leaking, new gasket fixed that one. The second one was the actual tank leaking, it leaked right above the seam of the tank. I don't know if something hit the tank or ...

Re: Code 35 and Code 49
The purge control solenoids do have a tendency to go bad. If you have over 100k miles and it's never been replaced, then it's probably time for a new one. Most people relocate it to a more accessable area when it's replaced, as they are a pain to get to in the stock location. I believe the ECU will ...

Re: Why not to run an atmospheric BOV on a Legacy
I ran a HKS VTA, and it was fine at idle. It did run rich whenever it opened, just becasue it acts like a metered air leak. At low speeds and low rpm if I let off the gas quickly it was rich enough to cause it to stall, this got old real fast! If I was going fast enough it never stalled, but I freaq...

Re: Used Ebay 05 STI EWG Upipe&Turbo, +xtras (in progress)
Okay, turbine housing outlet time. At first I just used a carbide bit to knock of the rough spots and open it up just a lil', I don't have a spare DP gasket so I wasn't going to port match the housing. After I looked at it a couple times I realized that the impression from the gasket was still there...

WooHoo!!! The Office Season Premiere Tonight @ 9pm
I love this show and am so stoked it's starting back up again! It's sad that Steve Carell is leaving after this season, but I guess he's just so funny and such a big star now he can't stay .
If your a fan and you miss it, it should be on Hulu.com in a couple days I think.

Re: Used Ebay 05 STI EWG Upipe&Turbo, +xtras (in progress)
Thanks Josh. It came out alot better than I thought it would, I think it's all about the felt wheel and polishing compound I used. I may have messed up though as I installed a plate like I was talking about. For some reason, I had it in my head that exhaust piping wall thickness was 1/8". I put...

Josh, LOL it's no biggie, but if you look at the 3rd post, the 2nd link I posted was about the idle stop switch. I posted it out of order because I recently found out about the resistance not being as important as the idle stop switch itself, LOL. Rustee, I think we established you got the hang/idle...

Re: Bad Throttle Hang
I feel you on the coolant tank issue, mine just broke at 166k miles after swapping turbos. I just replaced it with a stock one, cost $120 but figure if it last another 166k miles it worth it. Don't know the KS torque specs off the top of my head, but that sounds close(15-17ft lbs). I just snugged mi...

Re: Bad Throttle Hang
All that should help alot. Now that you set the TPS idle stop switch your specs seem alot better and you probably fixed your problem. I would highly recommend resetting the ECU and clearing the codes. Code 22 is the knock sensor. The original knock sensors were prone to cracking and had a grey conne...

Re: I.D. for stock SS Exhaust
I was wrong^. The wall thickness is 1/16" , so subtract 1/8 from the O.D. and that should be the I.D.. My 2.5" O.D. measures like 2 3/8" I.D.. I measured my stepdads exhaust as 2 1/4" O.D. and 2 1/8" I.D.(note that this is on a pickup truck not a stock SS). Brian Wow, I just...

Check valve? Your talking about the threaded valve in the manifold? that's the pcv, there not real expensive, like $2-$3, may just want to replace it.

Re: I.D. for stock SS Exhaust
(edited) From what I remember exhaust piping and most piping in general is measured by the O.D., not the I.D.. Most exhaust piping has a 1/16'' wall, so the I.D. is usually 1/8" smaller than the O.D. . I didn't realize this until after i put 2.5'' exhaust on my car, I was really disapointed whe...

Re: Bad Throttle Hang
Have you tried snapping the throttle under the hood to make sure it's returning to the closed position? It could be hitting something, keeping it from closing all the way. If you have a top mount intercooler it could be hanging up on it, I had this problem with my TMIC. You may have some carbon buil...

Re: Used Ebay 05 STI EWG Upipe&Turbo, +xtras (in progress)
Good work! Just a comment, On the intake side I would probably have more of a knife edge split between the two cylinders to help separate the flow. The more blunt that edge, it will create a high pressure zone there that will decrease flow due to resistance, eddying, etc. Thanks for the tip. After ...

Okay, here's my first attempt at PnP. I had been reading some posts about head swapping, head porting, and PnP in general. I was feeling overly confident and dove head first. I only have one pic of the first set of ports I tried on, a shotgun would have done a better job :-D . So thats where the spa...

Re: Rotated Turbo - back to stock?
It sounds like what your trying to do is reclock the compressor cover, right? I'm not familiar with the vf22, but if it's anything like the TD05, if you loosen the clamp all it will allow you to do is rotate the CHRA(center section) along with the compressor cover together. IF you do this, all the c...

Re: JECS MAF Question
My understanding, WHICH IS VERY LIMITED.
Any time you change to a different MAF, there has to be some sort of rescaling done, airflow=voltage. I believe this is usually done with a piggyback of some sort or Stand Alone EM.
Take these words as coming from an unexperienced NEWB!

Re: reclocked td04 in my 93 SS,actuator questions?
If I remember right, the TD04 actuator should be between 7-8psi. Have you tried removing the MBC from the equation? Just run a hose straight from the turbo nipple to the actuator? If boost still hits 1 bar, I would suspect that the actual wastegate itself might be sticking. If you have access to a r...
