Hey rallyak,
Do you know if it will lower my car by putting 92-94 front springs on my wagon?
From what i understand, the perch is mounted lower on the 90-91 front struts so im thinking 92-94 front springs will be shorter.
Any help is much appreciated.

Re: WRX Struts with stock legacy springs?
Ok, so I went to the parts store to compare today and it looks like the perch is mounted higher on the later model struts by over half an inch. The perch on the wrx front struts is also quite a bit higher than the legacy's. So, it looks like I would need to buy springs and upper perches to make it a...

Re: WRX Struts with stock legacy springs?
Are you sure?
This thread says that 92-94 rear struts have lower perches than 90-91 rear struts. It also says that the front perch on 92-94 struts is higher than on 90-91 struts.

WRX Struts with stock legacy springs?
So my 1991 legacy wagon 4wd is in need of new struts and new front strut mounts. I've been reading thread after thread for a few weeks now and I've gone through the stickies multiple times. I don't really have upwards of $350 to dump on new KYBs for the whole car... and since its a 1991, the rear st...

Re: Getting cold out, voltage drop happening
Sounds like an alternator failing to me. I bought an AutoZone alternator three years ago with the lifetime warranty and have had to replace it no less than 4 times. Everytime they start to fail the dash lights start to flicker. When they finally fail, the ABS, battery, and brake lights all stay lit ...

Pre-facelift fender marker lights.
Does anyone know if the pre-facelift fender markers (behind the front tires) on jdm/edm cars are a direct fit into usdm pre-facelift cars? From what I understand, facelift fender markers are different and require cutting of the fender.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Best way to tackle wheel bearings
If the rubber rack bushings haven't deteriorated, then they probably aren't the culprit. My sisters outback's rack bushings were literally falling off and causing a clunk when turning full lock. And by strut mounts, I mean the part that bolts to the strut tower. The top hats don't really wear out, t...

Re: Best way to tackle wheel bearings
I would second the sway bar links/bushings as a source of the clunk. They can cause a racket no matter what the speed or size of bump. They wouldn't have any affect on alignment, however. I would also check front ball joints if you haven't yet, check front tie rod ends, and steering rack bushings. I...

Hey rallyak,
When you get the chance, could you snap some pics of the output of the led bulbs? Like the highs and lows against the wall of a building?
I'd be really interested in these if the beam pattern is like stock.

I've seen those kits but I'm worried about the longevity of them as well as the beam pattern. I don't want crazy scatter like those plug-n-play hid kits.
Have any pictures of the output of the led conversion?

I'm very interested in this as well. The next option for me is to go full projector retrofit. And there are quite a few road blocks with that approach. I'd prefer to stick with OEM.

Map lights no worky
So I have a 1991 Legacy wagon non-turbo with non-op map lights. They worked intermittently for a few months and they just stopped working altogether. The regular domelight still functions fine in the on position and the door position. The bulbs are fine. There is a single wire that supplies power to...

JDM WRX 5 Speed into N/A Legacy
So the rear main bearing on my original 5 speed seized up about three weeks ago after 280,000 miles. It was odd because I had just returned from a 700 mile road trip without a hitch. It showed no symptoms of an impending failure. I came home from the trip, unloaded all of my roommates and my junk in...

I'm going to be putting in an Avital 5303 Remote Start, Alarm, Keyless entry system into my 1991 Legacy Wagon tomorrow and have spent the past week researching the install to get a good feel for it all. I already know the locations of all the important basic wires that need to be installed to make t...

I think they look great in silver on white or silver first gens. But otherwise I think they make the car look dated.BoneIslandScooby wrote:Actually, the 18 spokes lace rims look pretty good to me on first gens when they are painted black.

Re: Source for door weatherstrip clips.
I was lucky and found a very low mileage 1991 Legacy wagon (same color as mine, even) in the local junkyard. I pulled nearly all of the weatherstrip off the car for like $25 and put it on my car. Nearly perfect condition. Pull-and-save in Spokane, WA has like 13 BC/BF Legacies on the yard at any giv...

Source for door weatherstrip clips.
Ya know those little white clips that hold the door jamb weatherstrip to the doors? Well, while I was replacing one of my doors weatherstrip (it was torn from being frozen to the jamb last winter), I broke nearly every single clip. So I found that most of the Subaru parts sites charge about $1.50-$2...

Re: Legacy won't start! Car is stranded in town!
Thanks for the help, guys! I actually have been having to do all of this work in my parking lot at work, using my mom's Outback to jump the battery whenever I crank all of the juice out of it. After all of this trouble shooting, I went to the Subaru dealership nearby and talked to the head mechanic ...
