parts problem on vf11

Post by jefferson »

Took the 90 degree elbow off my turbo the other day to do a little flow improvement to it. I have the stock vf11. I had my local Subaru dealer order a couple of the gaskets in so I picked them up and commenced taking the elbow off. Lo and behold the gaskets are wrong and Subaru says these are the only ones they have
My question to everyone is has anyone else ran into this and is there some other source for the proper gasket?

The distance between the bolt holes is wrong and the hole in the center is much too big. Part number is su14415aa030. Thanks.

I just checked the part #, and it comes up as;

"Fuel system - Fuel induction - Turbo charger - Connector
Connector, blower elbow gasket, legacy 1991 - 1992"

That's the only gasket I could locate on the parts DB for the elbow gasket.

If the gasket is still in 1 piece reuse it.
You can put some silicone on there just in case.

If you destroyed it while taking the elbow off just silicone the thing if you can't get the correct gasket.

It sucks getting the wrong part....

I used Three Bond 1104 to seal it back up and hope none got squeezed out on the inside. I didnt use much. The gasket was in several pieces when I got the elbow off.

My parts guy called his Subaru parts help line and got the (that the only part we show) line. I told him to tell them it is not the right part.

I guess it is always possible they have some mislabeled parts.

The part # for the gasket I used is 14415aa030.

That worked for me, and should be the right part #. It's possible they had the gasket labeled incorrectly.
