Use these scans to fix code 42.
You really should try and get the throttle body back to as close to what it was before it was messed with, and then adjust the idle switch per the instructions in the third scan.

I'm not sure how that turndown pipe is going to take care of your exhaust issue. It's still going to be an open header more or less.

It won't really I guess, but it will make it at least exiting somewhere other than directly into the bottom of my hood haha.
Thanks for the scans. I am going to work on the car tomorrow. It has been brutally hot here in Virginia and even inside the garage with fans on it is unbearable.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
So over the last few weeks I have noticed an increasing amount of oil present on the ground under the car, but have been unable to find where its coming from. Yesterday I spent some time under the car cleaning all the gunk off the bottom of the motor and I have located the problem, there is a pinhole in the oil pan that I suppose is bad enough to really be letting a lot of oil out.
Ordered a new oil pan, gaskets and a magnetic drain plug. I will probably change the crossmember to a non-turbo one while I am replacing the pan, so that will solve my exhaust problem.

That sucks about the oil pan. Was it rusted and that what caused the pin hole leak?

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
I’m honestly not sure. It seems pretty unlikely that it just happened out of nowhere but there is no visible damage to the pan, and the spot where it is leaking is on the side, so I can’t imagine something making contact. Also, the car was never driven with this motor in it.
It’s a mystery

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Updates:
I took the car to a friends house to replace the pan, which was successful and also a pain in the ass. We also did a slew of other little things that needed to get done.
Attached GD wrx sway bar, bled brakes, finally put the pins in the axles, and attempted to get power steering installed but that was not a success. Even with several LHD parts cars we couldn't piece together lines that would work for my RHD rack. I am ordering these fittings, which should allow me to run just generic lines.
So today we got everything put back together and taken care of. Started the car and drove it around the property for about ten minutes. Just as we were about to head out to the main roads there was some smoke coming from under hood, turned the car off to investigate and there is oil coming from behind the cover directly under the crank pulley, which was dripping on the header. Oh well, at least I wasn't out on the road. So now I have to figure out the problem, and decide if its worth it to put more money into this motor or try to get yet another one.
Anyway, here are the pictures from today. Driving it around was so rad.
Drove my Toyota there today with hopes of driving the Legacy home, but no dice.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
It's probably the crank seal and/or oil pump. If you haven't done the seals I would recommend doing them. They aren't too difficult and not super expensive if you can do the labor yourself.
Let us know what you decide.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Updates: My friend looked over the car and checked everything out, it seems like there was just a lot of build up on the headers and that was just burning off, so that is where the smoke was coming from.
So he said it was good to go, I went over there to pick it up and now the car wont start again. We spent the better part of two hours troubleshooting and it still will not start. We swapped out the ignitor, cam sensor, crank sensor, plug wires, plugs, coil, MAF sensor, checked gas, and still nothing.

Are you getting spark? Did you rest the plug on the block while cranking to see if there's a spark? You can also use a noid light.
If you have spark and you are getting fuel then maybe the timing belt jumped a tooth....that may be a long shot, but not sure what else it could be.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Yessir, getting a nice spark and plenty of fuel. Going to check compression next.
On a side note, I posted this on my Instagram the other day and my internet friend Tyson sent me a message with a link to one for sale on yahoo japan! Even though there are probably plenty of other things I should have bought for the car I just couldnt pass it up! A friend of mine in Japan is handling the shipping process for me, thanks Highwaystar Andrew!

You may want to check the timing belt as well.

I dig it! I haven't handled the exhaust issue yet, so I haven't been driving it much. I also desperately need to get my power steering connected and working. Other than that it has been very nice!

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
The parts for my power steering lines came. Looks like I did not consider the differences in RHD vs LHD when I got together the parts. On my car the lines from the pump go directly to the rack, whereas on a LHD car the lines first go to a junction of sorts on the right side of rack, then hard lines cross over the crossmember to the left side of the vehicle and connect to rack there.
Since I found the sizes I needed to be semi time consuming, here they are.
RHD steering rack fitting sizes:
High pressure line - 14mm x 1.5 male threads,
Low pressure line - 16mm x 1.5 inverted male threads

Ok, the new parts came and shocker, I was wrong again! Then I went to a local store, three times, and was finally able to get everything together properly! My power steering works!
Still super messy, but I will get it all cleaned up and painted.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build
Took the car out yesterday and drove over to a friends house to wash it!
Driving it was super fun, even though it wasnt very far, and im still rocking an open header. Definitely need to address a few things before its 100% in my mind.
1. Bushings! Like all of them. I bought some for front lower control arms, but really need like everything.
2. The power lock situation. Need to remove all of the actuators I guess
3. Speedometer doesn't work
4. All the panel gaps need to be addressed. Some stuff missing some bolts
5. I have no weatherstripping
