1993 Subaru w/ Tein

Post by Shane »

I am new to Subaru and I love it already. As a former Civic owner this car is a much, much more complete package. However, the gas mileage is not very good compared to my 1.8L N/A VTEC engine. Oh well, I love my Legacy already.

^^^the day that I bought it.

I installed the Tein Type HRs yesterday...and the ride quality is good.

That is the only mod I have done so far but I think it is a good one.

Thanks.

Awesome!! How does it handle? Now all you have to do is get some body work done, and keep it out of the salt :D

It handles like a dream. I went for a nice drive down a twisty road this afternoon and it handled so well. It takes bumps in the road extremely well. :D

The body work is next on the list. I am also planning to have the stock rims refinished in black.

Wow, great start! Now get some Whiteline HD endlinks and get in on the steering rack bushing group buy and your suspension stuff is pretty much done.

Too low IMO, but that's probably because you're rolling on stock wheels.

Invest in wheels and MUCH better tires before someone starts making brash comments on endlinks and sway bars. ;)

Thanks for your opinions.

"Too low"

For my personal taste as long as I don't "bottom out" the lower the better.

Hehehe, as for the next mods...they won't be for a while. I am in my 2nd year of Engineering so I have to spend money wisely. I can justify the suspension mod b/c the stock struts were toast in the rear.

For now I am just keeping busy reading everyones posts and taking in knowledge!

i cant agree with lower ALWAYS being better, nothing I love more than hitting speed bumps at like 30 mph :)

The asking price was $1500 CAD and I paid $1350.

Speed Bumps are something I avoid at all costs but it is easy for me because the only "speed bumps" I come across are in parking lots. lol
But on the Highways I don't swerve sparatically to aviod bumps in the road. The roads that I travel on are fairly decent and well maintained. :)

I think it looks good. :)

Lowering is a personal taste thing and it depends what you're going for with the car. If it's going to be a road racer/drag car then no harm no foul. If it's gonna be a rally car or you live in Montana then it can be a scary thing.

Instead of redoing your stock wheels, maybe you should think about getting some OEM 16" WRX wheels. You can usually pic them up for around $200-300 USD and that's with tires too. They are lighter then the OEM 15" SS wheels and would look much better on your lowered car IMO too. They'll really fill your wheel wells.

I like the color. The stock wheels aren't all that bad either.

Thanks for the comments and compliments.

I have some plans for AutoX and a little road racing every now and then.

I am anxious to get some RS or WRX rims but for now the stock wheels will be fine. Maybe in the winter or Spring I will invest in some 16" OEM Subaru rims.

Let me know how you make out with those rear quarterpanels.

I've got some bubbling appearing there too and am wondering if it can be fixed w/o removing the entire rear bumper... I don't think the bolts holding my bumper on will be able to go back on...

^^I'll let you know.

So far it's just surface rust. The previous owner coated anywhere he saw rust with grease.

Hahaha, ya, but you have to remember that Speshal's car was about 2" lower, making it to low to drive on 90% of US roads. ;)

Nico- Ya, I will let you know if I head out to any shows or your area.

Speshal's car is nice. I like it anyway.

I am glad people didn't bash my car that would have turned me off of this site. Instead, they gave me some advice/information in my other post and that is helping me understand the Suspension better.
