Temp sensor and gauge calibration?

Post by skid542 »

Due to recent events with my car I want/need to calibrate my temperature sensor and gauge. I have a feeling that one of them is not responding properly.

As I understand it, these are a simple resistivity thermal couple.

I need to know was resistance these two sensors are supposed to read at various temperatures. I've looked in the FSM's and could find the answers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The engine coolant temp sensor has the following resistances

2.0 - 3.0 kohms @ 68 deg F
0.3 - 0.4 kohms @ 175 deg F

Thank you Josh.

Just so I'm straight, this is for the single spade terminal sensor, not the one with the brownish two pin plug? Or do they both have the same characteristics?

This is for the brown two pin plug. That is the ECU temperature sensor.

I don't believe they have the same characteristics.

Okay, awesome. The ECU one is the one that really needs to be right and with my awesome new scan tool (thanks V) it's the one I watch.

Thanks again Josh.
