When i found the car it came with a 2.2T so i named it "Jackson-T"
i traded a '83 firebird SE 5.0L with a failing transmission for it ; i saw that it was posted for a few months in the local ads with about million hits so i called the guy to see why it had not sold with only 164000lkms

When i arrived to meet the guy , i pulled up next to the car sitting under a tree on flat tires covered in pine-needles and seagull sh!t , sporting a rusted out trailer-hitch and som busted ass suspension , - the guy was asking 400 $$ for it !! ; and even with the word "TURBO" stamped clearly on the boot , not even the riciest of rice would even touch the car let alone pay money for it

The carpet was near rotted out from moisture ; wetness and fast food had infiltraded the floor mats Crying or Very sad and even though the motor could be heard smoking , no one would take it for free

-in an act of desperation i offered the firebird up for trade and the guy of course jumped on it , about an hr later i limped the SS home on flat rubber where i immediately began sorting through the junkfood wrappings to begin the de-lousing of the carpets and interior mats ; afterward i "Vim-ed" the orange stains from the acid rain off the exterior paint ; yess thats Vim the bathroom cleaner

When the initial shock wore off from the smell of inside the cabin i took the carpet and floor mats to a nearby carwash and pressurewashed everything there three or four times before shampooing the discolouration out ; how the grey color carpets turned blu-green no-one knows , o wait i know , - i pulled nearly three dollars worth of tarnished copper pennies off the floormats and from under the seats ! / endrant

This is the first picture of the car in September '08 , after all the above mentioned - i think it cleaned up pretty well

I ve grown up riding sportbikes since i ve had a license and i m interested in turbo-building so i m doing the EJ2.2T/EJ25DOHC / eventually 2.34T hybrid motor , with aims of 250-275 hp after all the goodies ; some 225 whp is fine for me

So far , i ve smashed the #3 piston in the 22T and filled the intake with oil ,, mysteriously ,, - this 2.2T is on its way out -- > Archive +

Since August '08 , i ve replaced and sealed the sunroof among the other leaks on the body , i removed the EJ22T and swapped in a EJ25D from a '98 lego BKGT , resulting in the same name "Jackson" - minus the T for turbo ---> here s the Journal Post

**February 2009** Introducing Caesar on the left and Brutus on the right ** I scored the '93 LS 4eat sedan in New Glasgow NS for 250 $$ for suspension & parts ; i took a bus to get the car and drove it back to the Island after repairing a leak in the fuel line ; a bit of a risk though i m always out for another adventure and "com-onn" ' i m mean it s bound to run after a quick once-over right Confused Very Happy it had a great sunroof among other things so the car became a donor to the SS ; sadly the '93 had too much rust for a salvage project so i had to get stabby

Note: in my experience , the 4eat is a sloth in the -10 degree mornings though before i killed the '93 it proved reliable for a few months above 0 degrees

I had the LS towed right before the motor swap in June , RIP Caesar

*June '09* this motor is ready to come out >> EJ22T Suicide

* * *

This is the motor after removing the intake and assosiated bolts , just waiting on the right day to rent the hoist -
i have vacation comming + a take-off td04 to play with until then

nothing like working outside to keep your build spirit soaring

May Update : i rented the spring compressors and assembled the '93 LS rear tops to the '98GT suspension and after fighting the left side strut to fit for the better half an hour , i actually managed to install it on the wrong corner Embarassed , it wasn t until i began to install the break line clip that i noticed i d recieved a major F - for assembly
- the 2nd install followed shortly after the de-install of the previous F.A.I.L.

FTR , the correct corners fit much easier A++
- camber bolts may be a B*tcH without WD40!!
- MY'96-'99 springs & struts need MY'93-'94 rear tops to fit MY'91-'92 rear
- MY'91 SS rear springs are tapered at the top

- all 4 corners are now correct and i m pleased with the result
as for the '98GT spoke wheels , they re on a 2000 outback for the summer

That CAN be resleeved. Not the high performance sleeves, but just a new iron sleeve. I had this done with an EJ207.

ok here is the question of the day ; this block is headed for a 2.34 stroker build , - will boaring the cylinders oversized be enough to clean-up the scars or are the scars too deep in this case ?

pardon the punn

... woah. Pardon the ignorance, but were you driving the car when that sucker went??

I remember doing sleeves with my old man when I was a kid... dry ice on the inside, 2 torches on the outside and they nearly fell out of the bores.

That's definite resleeve territory. A bore won't get that and still leave enough of the iron wall.

Before you resleeve, price out a replacement block or have yours thoughly checked. That rod was geting hit hard and it wouldn't suprise me if the crank was bent/damaged or the mains need to be line bored.

thankfully No
the car was sitting after it begain knocking one day - i began trouble shooting the noise in the driveway and after a few months of it running with heavy rod knock , that is this end result - exactally how it looked when i removed the head on cylinder 3

i m only using the block from what is left , there will be 25D crank and rods in it after all , - When i get around to splitting the case , what am i to expect as a result of the damage ?

Dude i really would not use that block. This is a lot of work to risk anything because of shit like that.I have two junk blocks in my shop that a crank wont spin in and all they did was overheat badly.

You should have that block hot tanked and inspected for microfractures (seismically / acoustically or with the florescent dye) if you're really considering using it. It would not be a big surprise if the bottom of that bore was messed up, but I have seen worse revived... It was a tractor engine though Wink

The only thing I would use that block for is serious sleeves, 14mm studs, a line bore and mod for a 257 crank.

Otherwise, make a robot out of it or something.

Or, I'll give you $150 shipped for it....

it s not in the forcast to sell the block , the 2.57 crank idea is attractive , though originally the idea is to put the 25D crank and rods in there until i work out a reasonable set up for turbo , ecu etc ..

i m collecting parts for the spring again and more likely i ll have the block checked over the winter months

i m not kidding when i say there are no s00bies to pick from on this island
tis' why i grabbed the '93 for parts in another province !!

the wear is a bit excessive for 164 000 klm and has me puzzled , - the car is originally from Ontario

Did you paint the chrome strips or tape them? Or rip them out I can't tell.

it s a nasty effort , i peeled the chrome strip and it left a thick white double-sided adhesive layer behind ; i used brake fluid and a flat head screwdriver to soften the adhesive and scrape\maul\chissel it away

took like an hr

I peeled the chrome from the back bumper because it was already coming off. I used electrical tape on the sides and front bumper but it's pretty difficult to get it on there perfectly and I think I'll eventually end up removing the rest of the chrome.
