Stolen 93 turbo 5mt legacy
I had my car for about two months now, it was parked at LA Fitness in Vancouver WA. off Fourth Plain at about 5:30 pm on friday the 12 of February, i was gone for about an hour and a half and came out and it was gone. i called the police and had it reported and turned into insurance. The stores had no cameras close by, and there was no glass around anywhere. I even had my doors locked. Its also missing a front right marker light, the front right mirror is melted a bit. i put a lot of work into so any help or u see any thing call the cops thanks.

Hey thanks for keeping your eyes out but it showed up two days later i just havnt been on here for a while. it turns out the #$%^ @##$* shaved a key down and got it to start, i heard it from another person that there is a key that works with most Subarus, so watch out. they stole a few things not that expensive but i got my car back and am pretty lucky. So i got an alarm system installed in it today:) i would recommend one if you are worried. hey and thanx for gettin those pics uploaded mike-traci.

Same thing happened to spencer. Guy used a shaved key to steal his car. Is this common knowledge among thieves? Who the hell would know to do that? Or know how?
I think spencer may be within 20 miles of you too. Maybe it was the same guy? That would be pretty wild that he got you both and you're both on the same forum.

I'm not surprised the old worn lock cylinders work with shaved keys. Look at the key that came with my car last year that the guy was using. I promptly got one cut from code...kimokalihi wrote:Guy used a shaved key to steal his car. Is this common knowledge among thieves? Who the hell would know to do that? Or know how?

Good you got it back. When I bought my car, the key was pretty worn out, but it worked fine, so I'm not surprised it works for dirt bag thieves.
How do you know how they did it?
FWIW, in my GL, the original ignition was a dummy and I had a working one installed in the dash to the lower right side of the steering column. There was a knock out there (I think for the "3rd eye" switch on some of the 4WDs) with a diameter about exactly the same as the width of the key blade so the ignition was very well hidden. I did it due to the original switch being bad, but it could have worked well as an anti-theft device. If anyone actually wanted to steal the thing.

Ya i was actually told about this forum soon after i bought my car by Spencer, and signed up, i called him the night my car was stolen because id heard his was also stolen a while back. He told me to post pics and info on here and NASIOC so i did the next day (satuday), and then got it back that Sunday. i dont even think the key i found in my car was an actual Subaru key by the looks of it, but it was ground down on the wide sides of the key, maybe 1/16 of an inch. Im guessing the thief just worked at the ignition with it until it finally turned. I tried it for a while with that key and couldn't get it to but the key i own for it only fits one way in my ignition, so that might mean its slightly worn or something i dono. Anyways my car was called in by a family who was complaining about a car sitting out front of their house the cops showed up and called me saying they found my car and to come pick it up. it was in a subdivision with plenty of houses but was dropped off there at dark. The thief knew he only had a small window to do what he wanted with the car knowing i would call it in as soon as i came back out, so he didn't drive it far and took what he could, taking time to look in the trunk and steal my tools. I bought a basic security system with siren and flashing lights installed for $180, but thats just the alarm i still have to go back and get a motor installed in my door to make my doors lock automatically, and that i was told would cost $135, thats $20 to pull the alarm brain, $75 for the power lock actuator and $40 to tie into the door locks so total thats a $305 alarm system. I should feel pretty safe about leaving my car out after its all said and done, other wise ya i recommend packing the Berreta

Yeah Berretta. People who steal deserve to be shot. Actually at work tonight I was thinking if I found someone breaking into my car I would promptly come out with my 12 gauge mossberg and if they made one wrong move I'd let 'em have it. People who steal from other people are low life pieces of shit.

Nissan used the same key blanks, so it could have been one of those. People who steal tools are even worse. It's one thing to take a guy's TV or something, but to take away something where he could lose his job or lots of work definitely deserves execution. Some telecom contractors I knew had their whole trailer full of tools stolen, some of which are difficult to get, from one of their own guys who just disappeared. And they had known each other for years. Must have been drugs. Yet another reason to shoot him.

I see more tweakers at my job than I've ever seen in my whole existence prior to working at the casino. Most of them are nice people but I'm thankful we have a fenced parking lot with surveilence 24/7.
You never know what those fuckers will do for drug money.
