Do you have to crack the engine block to replace the rings or can you take off the pan and disconnect the pistons and rods? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Engine rebuild kit...With rings, pistons, gasket set, etc.....

I was thinking it might be the IAC but I cant find that on my engine. I know it is on the intake but have no idea what it looks like. Can anyone post a picture or describe what I should be looking for? Thanks

I have a '90 Legacy and when I go to stop sometimes the engine will die right before I come to a complete stop. It will idle fine once I start it back up and I have found that if I dont push in the clutch until I am almost stopped the engine doesnt die as much. What does this sound like?

I know that it is powered and grounded. The check engine light used to come on with the ignition and now it doesnt, when I connect the green plugs nothing cycles and when I turn the ignition on I cant hear the fuel pump prime. Is there away to test the ECU to see if it is dead? My engine is getting no spark from the coil, I tested the coil with an ohm meter and it is good, then I replaced the ignition relay and still no spark. I am thinking that I may have fried the ECU.
