Ring replacement
Do you have to crack the engine block to replace the rings or can you take off the pan and disconnect the pistons and rods? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

'90 NA Idle Question
I have a '90 Legacy and when I go to stop sometimes the engine will die right before I come to a complete stop. It will idle fine once I start it back up and I have found that if I dont push in the clutch until I am almost stopped the engine doesnt die as much. What does this sound like?

Is my ECU dead?
Is there away to test the ECU to see if it is dead? My engine is getting no spark from the coil, I tested the coil with an ohm meter and it is good, then I replaced the ignition relay and still no spark. I am thinking that I may have fried the ECU. Any way to test the old one before I get another on...

vrg3 I have a set of '90 5-speed injectors but the engine I'm using came from an auto so they are different. I think I would rather stick with the same injectors than switch over the manual injectors just so I don't have any problems. But just out of curiosity would the injectors from a manual fit i...

Sweet, thanks again for all the help. On partsamerica.com they have a reman. pintle-type injector for a '91 but they dont list it for a '90. But it should still work even if my engine is a '90 right? All of the other injectors listed have the same part number from '90 to '91 but they only list the r...

What year did the fuel injectors change?
Since I cant tell what year car this engine came from, can anyone tell me what year the fuel injectors changed? I know that they are not the same as the '90 Legacy injectors and I'm not sure if '91 used the same ones. Then I think that they were all the same from '92 through '94. So did '91 use the ...

How can I tell what year this engine is?
I bought a '90 Legacy that had the engine replaced. I was assuming that it was done with another engine from the same year, but I was wrong. I went to get the injectors rebuilt and found out they are nothing like the injectors in the '90 Legacy's. Is there some way I can get the year off the engine ...

Question about fuel rail.
I was getting an error code for one of my injectors, so I took all of my injectors out of the engine, then I plugged them back into the connectors in a different order to see if it was the wiring that was causing the problem or the injector. Next, with the injectors dangling from the connectors, I t...
