Depends on what you are planning to do, and if you have an auto or manual. That auto is a big beast. I want to re-align the torque convertor, or worst case pull the torque covertor out to find out why it's spinning freely (might have killed the pump?) Some people have mentioned it would be easier t...

Thanks for that ralli. I am now an expert (well) on how a torque convertor works. Unfortunatley it dosent cover "common problems" or how this needs to go click into here and this pump seal needs to be perfect etc etc Anyway I have tried again and felt it click into place, cross fingers and...

Aha I see........Thanks for that..... I have now done this and topped up the trans, still no gears. I am worried it has something to do with the torque convertor alignment when I put the engine in (allthough i didnt move it) Gonna loosen the bellhouse bolts and try rotating the TC to see if it "...

Damm! I'll put back in, but it has hot/cold dipstick, whats all that about? The knocking/ticking sound was two of the boltheads that connect the driveplate to the TC hitting something in there. The ends were filed smooth!! This still doesnt explain why I have no gears....... unless the TC has pulled...

Well I didnt touch the trans so none.

I just went and checked the trans fluid and was quite high when cold so I drained a bit out (3 ltrs). Still reads resonably high.

I can see the TC moving when motor is cranked so must be behind that the input shaft?

No, just removed the four bolts holding the flexplate (?) to it.
Did of course lift the trans up and down to manouver the engine in.
The TC didnt appear to move at all.

Have I stuffed up my torque converter on engine install?

I've dropped in a replacement engine and finally got it running. I have no gears now!! (auto) and I hear a ticking/knocking sound. (Speeds up with revs) What have I messed up here?? I did a search and found a similar post http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=18045 but he replaced his trans I...

What is a wabbol joint socket ? Is that slang ? I mean I am on the otherside of the world .... but is that a brand?

I'll assume your meaning a universal socket joiner?
Tryed that one just cant get enough power to the socket.

Cheers for your input

Power steering sensor

Ive found a connector that wasn't connected, I think its the power steering sensor which comes out the back of the powersteering reservoir, but I cant find another connector that its meant to go to, I presume it ends up at the ECM can anyone advise?

Well I pulled the resonator out and it dribbled out the small pipe hole. So not HEAPS but a resonable amount to be worried. When I originally pulled the vent pipes (at the T connector where the valve cover vents meet) it was just a thin coat of greyish oil. Ive read heaps of posts, on this forum and...

Yes I've read massive amounts of posts regarding the oil debate, so its hard to decide other than by trial and error.

Cheers EJ20TMAN will check it out.

My major concern is oil in the Intake (testament to the smoke occasionally puffing out the back)

Begining to wonder about friggin turbo....

Cant seem to find seafoam here in New Zealand, i wonder if there are similar products? I'll ask around.

The valve clatter is constant, from one valve (thats not a gunked up hydro lifter is it?)

I think I'll do a flush and put dino oil in it.

Cheers guys

Cheers for your input....... I know it needs 4.5 ltrs (I have Haynes manual) but i wanted to check as i went. Interestingly subyluvr2212 i'm using Synth oil and got about 115K on the clock. Problem is I allready have a relativley loud valve clatter, so diagnosing it that way is hard. My oil light is...

3.5 Litres of Oil, None showing on Dipstick

I put 3.5 Ltrs of Oil in after doing an oil change and none is showing on the dipstick after I've warmed it to running temp. I pulled off the hose which connects to the air intake from the valve covers and there was a liitle bit of creamy oil inside the pipe. Car seems to run fine, except when I put...
