It is FWD not AWD. I'm not sure if the timing belt has snapped. A friend was driving it when the car completely lost power despite attempts to press the accelerator. The car had to be towed and the mechanic suggested it was the timing belt. When he gave the estimate for repair that is when it was de...

FS in RI: 1993 Legacy L - get her before she goes to scrap!
You couldn't have asked for a better car. After 193K miles the mechanic said the timing belt was shot. There are many good parts on the old girl if anyone near Cumberland, Rhode Island wants her. I have to get rid of the complete car within the next few days so if there are no takers she is going to...

The reason the A/C has not working in about two years is because initially the compressor died. I had a Subaru certified mechanic install a used one but he didn't have ability to recharge the system. I've read a lot about having to change out the dryer and other parts as well as pull a vacuum, etc. ...

New England area help needed - will pay of course!
I live in Cumberland, RI (02864) and am looking for some help. I have a 1993 Legacy L that has had non-functional A/C for about 2-years. She has the old style R-12 refrigerant. I am looking for someone who is experienced in either retrofitting to R-132a or who can fix the current system and get it r...

New receiver/dryer just for R134a?
I just bought a new receiver/dryer from all-foreign.com for my 93' Legacy for $25 (including shipping)! The price was way lower than many of the other online stores I looked at, now I think I know why. I don't have a picture (I'm at work) but the top of the unit has two rubber tabs that say "R1...

Re: stick with freon for efficiency
There is a good shop here that will charge you $87, then either charge the system with freon, or tell you where the leak is after the pressure test, you go fix it yourself, the come back for another pressure check and the freon at no additional cost. My ex-wife just fixed her Honda AC for a total o...

7) Consider not retrofitting. R-12 has actually gotten fairly cheap lately. Depending on how much you buy at a time, the price can be as low as $20 for a charge! If you just buy enough for a single charge, it can still be as cheap as $50. Look on eBay. R-12 is more efficient than R-134a, so you'll ...

I found the front end (from the dash forward) of a white 93' Legacy at a local junk yard this past weekend. I salvaged the front drivers fender to replace mine but I could go back and take a few pictures if you are interested in the bumper. Not sure how much it would cost or the exact condition it i...

WTB: Drivers side front fender for 93' Legacy L
My elderly next door neighboor backed into my 93' Legacy L last weekend and practically destroyed my already rusted out front drivers side fender. Does anyone have one for sale (preferably in dark grey)? I'll also need a side marker.
Thanks,
~Jer

Hey Cumberland huh, I live in east greenwich. Cant help you on the part but I bought an OEM relplacement piece for my infiniti that fit perfect from autozone and it was less than half the price that the dealer wanted. I'd say that peice is going to be around $100. You wouldn't happen to have the Au...

Blackbart! I can't thank you enough for the parts you've sold me in the past. The fuel filler pipe worked like a charm and the caliper bracket fixed my rotor problem. I had PM'ed you a long time ago about an interior part for my 93' Legacy L that you said you might be able to find. Here are the deta...

I'm trying to get my 93' Legacy L to pass RI inspection and am having a bit of a hard time getting a small hole in my exhaust system repaired. I took the car to my local BJ's Wholesale Club/Monroe Muffler shop and they quickly found the cause but could not order the part because it didn't show up in...

Problem solved.
I replaced the bracket that holds the pads and the entire surface of the pad now makes contact with the rotor. Ordered a new set of pads and will resurface the rotors.
Thanks everyone for your input and Blackbart for the bracket!

Break pad shims
I'm doing a full break job this coming weekend and am concerned that the current pads on my 93' Legacy L have no shims, not one. This doesn't surprise me since I had a friend do the last break job and they were probably thrown away with the old pads. In a forum search I found a few posts that stated...
