Yeah that's me. Does the headgasket have something to do with the 7:1? That's pretty low. Might not really be any different even if its a 2.2 upgrade with that comp being so low.

Thanks again for the tips

Thanks for the reply. I kept telling him to lay off the gas, especially with a Ver1 RA ecu on 91 octane, but I guess he couldn't help it. Bye Bye #3 ring lol. So this time, I plan on purposfully lowering his boost 2psi and richening his settings until we can monitor what's going on. I hope he'll be ...

Quick EJ20g RA heads on EJ22t questions...

My brothers ej20g v1 ra motor blew a piston ring. So I bought back my old ej22t shortblock and plan to put the ej20g ra heads on that. Just wanted to quickly verify with you guys: Ej22t Headgaskets Ej20g headbolts Ej20g waterpipe (?) And then transfer everything over from the 20g including intake ma...

Does someone still have these pictures? I checked my archive, and it didn't save the pictures for some reason. I'd like to do this this month and I would really like pics of the tap sections of the head.

I got the Y-pipe to fit with a ghetto bendable universal radiator hose since the outlet on the turbo is pointing in an odd direction in comparison to the end of the Y-pipe. I got so frustrated with the end coming off, that I just made a blockoff plate on one of the ends of the Y on the intercooler, ...

Thanks, Natoe. Yeah I picked up a project 2g Eclipse again. So finishing that up while I have a good running Impreza. Yes I had to use the 1.8 throttle body for a number of reasons. It makes the engine swap very easy if using the 1.8 engine harness (No need to rework the ISC and IAC). Also it gives ...

I went to go look at that fwd Impreza and it's in pretty bad shape. It will probably need to be sent to a frame puller, as the sides of the firewall are bent unevenly from each other. And because of this, I think it's still for sale. Engine and drivetrain seem pretty solid though. I still have to do...

Byron's reversed intake manifold looks like a polished stock ej22t mani. Is that possible? If so, it would make fmic routing super easy. Does anyone have a dyno sheet of someone pushing 20PSI on a 22T and the resulting power output with stock heads? I guess that really depends on the turbo thats pus...

Ah I see. Yeah I am trying to get the throttle response, and useable power of the standard jdm wrx's, thats why I want to try and keep the turbo smaller since the car is meant for daily driving enjoyment. I'm done with large turbo setups. Fun for the track, but definetly not the street and just driv...

280hp Goals. Ej22t stock longblock limits?

I was throwing around some ideas on how to reach my 280hp goal on this ej22t. Sure, it wouldn't be too hard of a goal if I went dohc, but it would be nice to keep the stock sohc heads since I really like having a non-interference motor. Tried to do some reasearch but couldn't find anything. So I was...

It's too bad you didn't document your rewire, Natoe. Not8player and I have been trying to figure out 9 or so wires on the ej22t ecu plug side and how they wire into the ej18 harness side. Gave up on it since it's more trouble then it's worth trying to figure it out. Not that big of a deal anyway sin...

Nevermind. I was thinking I might have to have a new o2 bung tapped pre-cat to install the wideband. But since the UEGO can do a narrowband signal to the ecu, what I'll do is install the wideband sensor in the tap that I already have (b:)and just tune the car that way. Once it's tuned, I'll simply r...

Thanks guys. If the AEM UEGO wideband has a simiulated narrow band, there shouldn't be a need to have a new tap right? Guess I'll find out soon enough.

WRX downpipe. 2nd o2 bung bung 'ok' for obd1 o2v/wideband?

I have a modified WRX downpipe on my car. It has an O2 bung at (a:)the stock location after the pre-cat in the downpipe. Then there is the one I added for the o2 sensor (b:)before the cat, and I just blocked off the (a:)stock location. Since I will be using a wideband soon, will running the stock o2...

I don't think spending $120 on a Knock Lite and then $100-$200 on an S-ITC is worthwhile. That's about what a SafeGuard costs. Although I guess if you're planning on using an S-AFC you might want more precise control over timing than a SafeGuard provides. Unfortunatly the ej18 doesn't come with a s...

Here's my projected spending, maybe this might help your decission, Proj. I'll be getting the following next paycheck: Vortech FMU $90 Knock Lite $120 Walbro 255 $100 Boost Controller $20 Total $330 to allow me to safely run low boost (3-5psi). I already have the safc, so I can adjust a bit as well,...

Yeah it is independent of the ECU since it gets it's own reading from it's own sensor. The sensor just needs to be tapped somewhere early on the downpipe. The wrx downpipe I have, I tapped a bung over by the stock location of the 1.8 o2 sensor, which leaves the stock wrx rear o2 sensor bung free. If...

Here you go Project : http://www.jandssafeguard.com/safeguard.html From my understanding, it looks like a way to control ignition AND it acts as a guard against detonation. 2/ The case where you want to alter mixtures without involving the ECU. As I said above, the ECU knows (or thinks it knows) how much the injectors flow and pulses them accordingly. If you increase fuel pressure you increase fuel flow. Aside from the effects of feedback in closed-loop operation, IDC...

Maybe we should change the topic of this thread to "vrg3's lesson on tuning" LOL. All great information! This also clears up my misconception of the proper use of the afpr (rrfpr), since previously I only understood the need of it when running a larger fuel pump, to help prevent overrun an...

Too much timing advance doesn't make you run lean. The two are fairly independent. Then what is the 'real' cause for one to run into a leaner conditioin when you advance timing, and a richer condition when you retard timing. On 90-94 Eclipses, they have an adjustable CAS. Retarding the timing by tu...

AFPR options and stock fuel pressure #'s?

I was wondering if there any bolt-on type adjustable fuel pressure regulators for our engines. I tried to search on egay but all they had was a bunch of cheap looking universal kits. Also, what is the stock psi through the rail with and without a vacuum source on the fpr? 45psi?
