Re: Just missing a little something
It's unlikely that it would straighten out at higher RPM but I would also pull both side timing covers and make sure everything is lined up properly. Backfiring through the intake is a tell tale sign of being off time.

Re: Just missing a little something
Have you checked all of the line connections in the engine compartment. This sounds similar to a vacuum leak. It's interesting that spraying seafoam around the IAC seemed to help the situation. I'd look around the IAC area for cracked, broken or missing hoses. *edit* - There are a few hoses under th...

They are also labeled L & R, but it might be worth a quick check. Easy enough to see.

Re: car wont start, got spark but no fuel
Is it possible to get the left and right cam sprokets swapped and still get spark? In other words does the engine reference the cam, crank or both sensor at startup.
I'm having a hard time grasping why you wouldn't get something with proper cam timing, spark, starting fluid, and compression.

I laughed a little as one of the nascar announcers said something to the effect of: and then there is Travis Pastrana a new guy this year with very little race experience. NASCAR fail!

Re: Well I'll be putting another SS 5MT in a grave soon
Yeah I can confirm the fwd 5sp breaks under a higher load. My first legacy wound up being a ej22t swap for a year before I found a good awd swap to put under it. It was fun to spin the wheels at 30mph for a minute. But having to ease out of every turn like I had a waterballoon full of manure on the ...

Re: 2010 WRX 17x7 rims, 53mm offset, rubbing on spring perch
I've seen people do spacer+fender roll+camber +caster adjustments to get out of the situation. If its done properly the car can handle like a dream. I had to roll the rears on one of my first gens, not that bad if you study other peoples work a bit. There is a ghetto looking method using a baseball ...

That converts to about US$150. I'd also be interested to see a comparison between the Phenolics and PTFE. I think I paid US$99 for the Grimmspeed Phenolic set.
Kimokalihi, have you purchased teh PTFE ones from Carl Davey?

Re: Huge dilemma need help deciding on motor options!
Sorry to hear about the bearing issue. As far as the crank pulley is concerned I can't imagine you are seeing much if any gain by using a light weight. I don't know that I would worry about investing my money in another. But some of them do look pretty nice.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit...
No, the testing you did is not the same testing you would do at the connector. You want to measure just the resistance of the sending unit and not any of the voltages. I second that. The measurement has to be completed with the cluster seperated from the connector. The gage itself has resistance. S...

PTFE is essentially teflon, right? I'm curious to know how it compares to phenolic resin for heat shielding. Yeah, PTFE is the real abbreviation of Polytetrafluoroethylene. Dupont coined the name Teflon to make it easier and sexier from a sales standpoint. It's hard to say what the heat transfer ch...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit...
I would replace the entire gage cluster regardless if one is broken. I'm not sure anyone here will really want to disassemble one to get just one part out. Did you verify that it is indeed your gage?

Re: Fuel Sending Unit...
If the fuse is good then take measurements at the gage. The schematic shows three wires. One will be nearly equal to the battery voltage with the key in the run position (this is fed by the fuse discussed). One will be ground which can be determined with the ohm meter (nearly zero resistance), and o...

Re: Lincoln Town Car vs. A House
I should mention that this happpened down the road from my office. Drunk driver running from the cops slammed into a newly renovated vacation home. The owners asked the town to do something about the possibility that it could happen again. So the town offered to come in and install 5 or 6" diam...

Re: Lincoln Town Car vs. A House
Glad to hear everyone in the house turned out ok. I'm assuming the driver wasn't in too bad of shape either? He definitely had some speed behind him to make it over a 15' ditch. Most of the old big Lincoln's, Mercs, and Ford's did nose dives after a few feet. I broke an oil pan off of a Crown Vic pr...

Re: Pulled engine for clutch swap, now redlines when startin
I would check with your state inspection agency before cutting into the "frame". In NY any visual weldments to the structural unibody is grounds for failing a safety inspection. The hull is pretty much good for scrap at that point. I've welded some of mine in similar situations, but I took...

Page number 52 of section 6-2 is where the good stuff is.
It appears fuse 15 is in line with what your discussing. Suggest checking that first.

I had exedy stage 1 and stage 2 which I was extremly happy with. Imo you should also drop a little cash on a flywheel. I started with an extra cheap fw from autozone. When I decided to pull the engine for some engine bay work I notticed the ring gear was mangled and the contact surface was showing s...
