Does the antiroll bar float inside any of the bushings? My sister's Maxima does that and the rubber's nearly gone (had to drive it while my car was getting body work done. Thank god I got my Sube back! That thing handles like a pig on roller skates. Nice engine, though).

I use 87 and have had no problems at all (N/A fwd). Higher grades seem to make no difference, but I did have trouble when I cheaped out in the desert with the expensive 85 (!) octane they had. That's what happens when you drive cross country to the Monterey Historics week on a rail-road-track-flatte...

OOps. Never thought of the strainer. I was thinking external filters. Is the fuel tank one a regular maintenance item? I've never changed mine (221K).

I only have about two dozen pics, but I'm trying to get the first of two novels with my wagon in it (though with a turbo) published. At one point the main character compares it to an M5 and declares that his car has more soul. Does that count?

My '90 has the plastic collar, but I can't remember which bulb it used... I believe it was 9004, though. Car's still in body shop, so I can't go look.

I would assume the non-US market WRX box would be very tough and likely easier to get, but being from the other side of the pond, I couldn't say for sure. They came in a variety of final drives for different versions and years both GBR and JDM spec. I could give you the ratios for nearly any Subaru ...

I think you guys have the totally wrong idea! They wouldn't fight at all. They're all friends and I bet they would just gather around in a group hug and sing the alphabet. Custom fuel injection with a variable length velocity stack over each cylinder. Internals from turbo, maybe closed or semi-closed deck block for high RPM, compression. Larger displacement (though I'd keep it oversquare for high RPM). JDM 4.44 final drive or lower geared transmission. Variable valve ...

Just did the rear brakes a few weeks ago... I assume the rotor isn't just popping off easily for you or you wouldn't have asked. First buy replacement pins and cups (or at least the little cups 2/side) that hold the parking brake shoes to the backing plate as the cups may get damaged and the pins ma...

I prefer the EA81 for it's character and gear driven cam. The two I had were indestructable and cheaper than dirt. I could change the alternator and water pump blindfolded (although that would probably add a few minutes to the 15-min job). Decent bottom end torque, although slow, but there's somethi...

What does the Dynomax sound like on a Sube? Back in high school all the rich kids we used to torment had Mustang 5-point-slows their parents bought them and nearly without exception were equipped with Dynomax mufflers. Couldn't hear the engine, but the exhaust was relatively loud (of course the 5.0 ...

It's an older GL/DL hatch ca. 1980 (the ugly hatch kept the older style round lights while the beautiful rest of the range got the quad rectangle headlights so it may be a little newer). I came very close to buying a 5MT turbo sedan in that color, but the price ($5500) was too high for the bad brakes, rust, and smoke coming from the exhaust. Plus felt weaker than my N/A. Beautiful, though. Almost the same color as my N/A wagon.

I put in a K&N and don't know if there was much difference in power, but they don't need to be replaced and don't seem to be affected much by age like the cheap paper ones, so it's probably good from just a convenience point alone. There are differing opinions on intakes with most seeming to pre...

Around here CV joints run about $160 installed (rebuilt, but no problems - four years and counting) and a ball joint cost me $70 w/labor. Of course, that is if that's the issue. I would guess a wheel bearing at about $100 (that's what I paid to have one replaced in Detroit for my old GL). I really c...

Weird - I saw a red wagon in the junkyard with what sounds like the exact same damage. The heater was even pushed out the glovebox and it was resting on its ripped-off L-arm and wheel. Wasn't even my car and I thought that was a horrible thing to see. I walked away from it quick after checking for a...
