Re: Maciek's 2.36L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

Just ordered the V7 JDM STi hood scoop from JapanParts.com....$175 shipped. Not bad, since everybody is charging 200+ for used ones on the forums. I also adjusted a few things in the tune map....the TPS signal was somehow flipped....it's reading 4.44V at full close and 0.45V at 100% open throttle. T...

Re: Maciek's 2.36L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

I'm getting inspired to work on the 93 turbo wagon. I got the sideskirts on and installed the rear skirt by removing the bumper and drilling the bumper skin. I love the way it is looking. Just need to get some time to fab up the 98 GT wing onto it. The standalone has made a huge difference, and I ac...

Re: Maciek's 2.36L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

Quick correction...looks like the wastegate boost is 9 psi on the RSTi. I guess it couldn't even build full boost on the slipping clutch, and never got over 5 psi. No wonder it feels fast. Can't wait till 22 psi.

Re: Maciek's 2.36L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

Got a couple updates. First the RSTi: The clutch is broken in, and holy cow the car has a bunch of power at 5psi. It pulls much harder and all the way up to the current 6K redline then my 91 SS ever did at 18 psi on vf39. I am guessing it's close to 300ish whp/wtq at the current safe map tune and 5 ...

Re: cold start help

Mine does the same thing. I am suspecting the IAC as the culprit...it's almost as it's a little too closed when cold, before warm coolant runs through the IAC body.

Re: EJ22T Rebuild Time

I used Ridgereamer to deck my block for the ej236t build. The surface of the block was not smooth at all. It was a swirly rough pattern...perfect for the composite stock ej22t HG. There might be some pictures of the surface in my build thread. I did not specify a finish when I dropped it off. Just f...

Re: Ej22T stroker questions.

I believe rod length is calculated from center of crank rod journal to center of piston wrist pin. If there is a rod with 5.181" length and 52mm rod journals, it would suffice condition #2 posted by PHyrraM above. Meaning it should serve well as the interface component between the Phase 2 2.5 c...

Re: Maciek's 2.35L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

93 TW update: Haltech Sprint 500 arrived a few days ago, along with Intake Air Temp sensor and Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump kit. N/A fuel rails and 550cc STi yellow top injectors are awaiting installation. I was considering installing the 960cc side feeds I have, but I will probably sell those....kind o...

Re: Maciek's 2.35L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

RSTi update: Transmission swap done! Clutch has 270 miles on it, only 230 miles to go before I can get on it. Clutch feels really good. Pedal feel is softer than stock. Shifter is almost too still with all the bushings replaced, it did loosen up a tiny bit over the last week. The bad: 5th gear pops ...

Re: EJ22T Rebuild Time

For break in on my motor, I used the oil recommended by SUBA Performance. Below is the process I am using currently. Using Rotella T 15W-40 for the first 3K miles. First oil change at 20 minutes, the next at 500 miles then at 1500 miles. After that I decided to do another 1500 miles and then switch ...

Re: EJ22T Rebuild Time

The K601M975 pistons look like they will work. They list them for the 75mm stroke (ej22t crank), 5.137" rods (ej22t, ej205, ej257) and 46.6cc combustion chamber volume (ej25d DOHC heads 97-99 not 96). The K601M975 are 0.020" over bore pistons. You will have to have the block bored....make ...

Re: Ej22T stroker questions.

My stroker has the phase 2 crank, and 5.137" (ej22t, ej205, ej257) rods with custom sized STi pistons. Just quick thinking, I don't see why you couldn't run the phase 2 crank with the 5.180" Phase 1 type rods as long as they have the 52mm journals and the phase 1 forged stroker pistons. I ...

I think it's only the 3 bolts and the 2 plastic pop in pins.....plus double sided sticky pad stuff. I would hit it with a heat gun and see if it starts to budge a little.

Re: EJ22T Rebuild Time

You can run any 02 WRX style clutch setup. I liked the ACT SB5 HDSS on my 91SS. The pedal is a little stiff. I really like the Clutch Masters FX300 so far on my RSTi....super soft pedal feel (like stock) and I'm still breaking in the disk.

Re: Maciek's 2.35L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

The RSTi....transmission swap is 75% finished. I will be finishing up today. The roads are still crappy and salty, so I am not rushing to get it done. Still have the 500 mile break in on the Clutch Master FX300 before I can really get into boost. Found another small drip on the drivers side HG. I wi...

Re: timing belt broke.. now it wont stay running

There are tick marks on the cam pulleys and a tick mark on the crank pulley....but not the arrow, that is TDC cylinder #1. If you align all the ticks with the marks on the new timing belt, you should be fine. You can count the teeth as a control process, but I have never done it that way.

The rightmost upper gauge looks like a boost gauge....I think it flashes red when in vacuum. The one below that gauge looks like an AFR displaying lambda....looks like he is running 11.0 - 11.7 AFR at full boost. (between 0.7 - 0.8 lambda)

I thought that the unit in the midpipe was as resonator and not a cat. I was under the impression the cat is only in the DP....I cannot verify for 100% since I do not have a stock exhaust hanging out.

Re: Maciek's 2.35L Turbo Build (Update CAR IS RUNNING!!!)

Got the electrical issue on the 93 TW figured out. The wires were turning to copper oxide at the factory splice locations on the main power wires going from the alternator to all the fuse box locations. I am not sure if they got wet with salt water, but the splice connection was located in the fende...

Re: Electrical issues causing huge power loss

Figured it out. Had to replace all power wires on the alternator side of the main fuse box. The wire literally disintegrated into a green dust (copper oxide) at all splice locations. I don't know if there used to be a connector of some type there. I also pulled all splice locations out of the fender...

Re: Electrical issues causing huge power loss

More findings. Looks like on the RS and WRX, the SBF holder is incorporated into the main fuse box. I was missing 10 pages from the PDF I had for the 92 Legacy....pages 102-110 missing from the electrical section. I found another PDF with the missing pages....and it looks as if it is also incorporat...
