After what appears to be the week from hell, I thought it was ending on a good note. One of my pulley's seized last sunday and left me stranded. THe next day my alternator belt on my svx broke. Anyway, my problem is after having the damaged parts replaced including timing belt, my car won't start. T...

just food for thought, but mine had corroded and wasn't working. I went to the junkyard and got new wire from where the clips meet and viola!! it works again. For some reason, there was a lot of corrosion on the bulbs in the side marker and corner lights (maybe it's because it sat for like 2 years b...

He said that he replaced injector #4 with one from my old engine as it threw a code for it. The engine doesn't seem to be misfiring when it's misbehaving.there's just no power below 3000 rpms. I accelerate, but the revs don't increase as quickly as they should....like something is missing from the e...

I was thinking the MAF only because of the codes that I pulled yesterday. I overslept this am and didn't get a chance to pull the codes yet. The aluminum bodied cylinder is where I unplugged the wire from each time. I'll let the car sit overnight tonight and get up early tomorrow and disconnect the ...

update
I unplugged the MAF sensor and plugged it back in last night. I then took the car for a drive and it drove great. The check engine light went off and everything. A few minute into the drive it comes back on and it goes back to performing the way it has been. I then turn a corner and it gets better a...

the first time I didn't count things right and got the wrong codes. I'm going to reset the ECU tomorrow and see what codes I get then. Is there a way to reverse this vacuum bypass mod? I'm trying to see if I can resolve this myself as it would be much cheaper and I'm tired of dealing with mechanics!...

MAF question
Hello, I'm getting error code 23 along with codes 22,15, and 17. I just had an engine with 85k installed last week. My mechanic used all of the old parts from my old engine that he could. He said that he noticed that one of the tubes from the MAF was sealed shut. I have taken a picture of the tube i...

leak issue solved
I took my car to my mechanic earlier today and the leak is actually from my steering rack (which apparently uses atf). Off to the junkyard I go to try to find one.
Thanks for all of the suggestions and advice!!!

The vibration definately sounds like metal clanging. My best guess is the heat shields as well. As far as the fluid color goes, it's pinkish....it's mixing with the residual sludge on my tranny case so it's not totally pink. The leak is on the driver's side front portion of the tranny as everything ...

Slushbox question
I had the tranny in my 92 turbo replaced with on from a 93 impreza. It works wonderfully but lately i keep hearing what sounds like a vibration at low throttle. If I let up it goes away. It used to do it occasionally but now it's doing it regularly. It also (within the last week) has developed a lea...

a/c question
Hi, I have a question. The previous owner of my legacy attempted to change over the ac from r12 to r134 but it didn't work right. The compressor kicks on when I turn the ac on, but the air isn't cold. Are the fitting supposed to be changed? Do I have to get anything special from subaru or is the kit...

unconnected wires
Help!! I have a 92 turbo and there are two wires that are not connected. The previous owner says that they were for the alarm that was installed, but these appear to be for something else and the alarm wires are spliced in. The wires in question are located behind the driver's side headlight between...

Thanks for your help thus far!! I did some searching and I found two Legacy Turbo trannies. One that I found is a tranny from a 92/93 Legacy Turbo with 100k on it for $750 plus about $70 to ship it. It comes with a 6 month warranty. The second option is one from a 92 Turbo with 79k on it for $625 bu...

speedo and tranny questions
Hi!! I have two questions regarding my car. First question, what would cause the transmission to shift erratically? Would a broken speedo cable cause this? Would a broken speedo cable cause loss of reverse or is that just a typical problem with the 4eat. I have an SVX, so I'm familiar with the probl...

it's a white sedan. all forward gears function but no reverse. I'll just drive it till it quits and convert it to a 5 spd. I can hardly wait. A friend has a 93 turbo wagon that I'm always drooling over.......is the speedo cable hard to replace? It's almost 400 miles away from me and i'm gonna have t...

legacy sport sedan
Hello, I'm a newbie with a question....lol...I ran across a 92 legacy turbo for sale. It needs some things done to it and has roughly 180,000 on it. The guy wants $600 for it. Is that a good deal? Mileage doesn't really matter to me...I bought my loyale with 160,000 on it and it runs wonderfully. He...
