I know this isn't a new thread, but I just wanted to say that if the exhaust is stock, it isn't even close to 3" in diameter. Internal on a WRX is closer to 2" even.

Unless of course it's aftermarket, in which case, carry on. :)

Cool I'll check in to that.

I'm not sure about the toxicity of that stuff, either. But I remember working with Marine-Tex about 11 years ago, man that stuff was potent!! It's a two (or three, I forget) -part adhesive. VERY strong.

I was thinking about replying to this not long ago, actually! I picked up the GT on Friday, after selling my RS two days prior. So I've now had the car for two days. :) So far I love it. It was pretty clean when I picked it up, though I did vacuum it again myself, and used a lot of Vinylex on the da...

Yeah it was commuting between PA and Syracuse, NY which is upstate and thus gets a lot of road salt. I also believe that's the case; only, this car probably never had its engine bay cleaned. I spent 26 years in NH, which gets pretty rough winters. My engines never had that much rust, but then again ...

Hey guys. :) Not sure if anyone will read this, but... Fluids were topped off, tranny fluid was flushed with new OEM. Everything looks good, I should have the compression/leakdown results today, I believe. :) I emailed SoA and they sent me a list of things that were specified at purchase, for option...

Hey guys. Dunno why I didn't think of this before, but here's a cut/paste of the CarFax records... FYI I've already emailed Bill Rapp in Syracuse to see if it's possible to disclose what the services were. Probably regular maintenance. I do see that wheel bearings were replaced, but I had that done ...

Supposedly the Manheim auction has a pretty strict background check, and this one came through clean.

FYI, Bill Rapp Superstore in Syracuse is listed as a place that the car was serviced at, three times. Probably regular maintenance, but I emailed them to see if they're allowed to disclose what was performed on the vehicle.

No, it's an in-state car only. It was serviced a few times in Syracuse, my guess is the same as the current owner's, in that it was a business commuter car, back and forth. Its origin is listed as Oxford, PA.

Well I didn't get under it personally, at least in the front, but I said that before. Yeah newer is better of course... :) But it's quite a bit more, too. We can probably afford to take some extra money out of another fund, but I'd rather not. 777, I'm reading a bit of the Scotty thread now. Hmm, in...

Yeah I've worked my rear end off, pretty much. :) I think it's a good price, $11,900 is the "Fair" listing on KBB and I'd place this car at Good. Not Excellent, but if I fix those paint touch up spots, and spend some time in the engine cosmetics, it'll be pretty close. I don't want you guy...

84K is a lot for an '05 but I put 25K on my RS, every year, for the first 4 years I had it. I was past my OEM warranty in like 18 months. The '06 is absolutely mint, I mean 10K miles and babied, garaged... obviously the nicer car. But payments are like $310/mo. versus $135/mo. which is a big differe...

The ASE mechanic looked at the car yesterday and thinks it's in really good shape. The owner also ran it to Subaru to have one of their techs give a third-party opinion. They saw no issues and thought that the rust was cosmetic. The owner told me that Subaru confirmed that a compression/leakdown sho...

Yeah, it's about 90-120 min. north of me, I forget how far exactly. Depending on how thorough an explanation I get, we'll see if I need to go up. I hate to even post it here (y'know in case someone grabs it!!), but I'm considering this mint 2006 GT as well. Thing is, that's priced much higher. Still...

No, I looked under the rear before we left, and thought of trying to get the camera under there, but I wasn't sure if I could get anything that would really come out. Looked okay I think, a couple parts a bit rusty but I'm also used to looking at the underside of my Impreza. :D Sorry about your bro,...

Sounds like you have brother issues, hah. :D I know it's funky, that's why I've posted it here, on LegacyGT.com, and on RS25. Lots of agreements on the rust, but that's also why I've had the seller do a lot of work on this for me. Everything will be contingent upon the mechanic's report. And I still...

Currently the ASE mechanic (who works at a local dealership) is running a compression/leakdown test to check that out. He will replace the one rusty line that sticks out, there. I'm thinking plugs should be changed ( NGK ), and I also requested that the tranny fluid be flushed with Uncle Scotty's co...

Thanks. I emailed the guy this morning and told him I definitely want the mechanic to look at it. The Subaru dealership in town says it's $35 for a pre-purchase "inspection" visit. I'm also finding out if they're willing to drop it by.
