Re: Head Gasket Failure?
I did a compression test a few days ago and it seemed to have good numbers. My previously described problem was caused by a bad fuel pump and rather large vacuum leak. The MAF is my next replacement. I agree with you on the possibility of multiple issues.

Head Gasket Failure?
My 1991 SS, as some of you know, likes to randomly die. The previous cause has been found and fixed, but I've noticed that while on longer drives it will now die again, while running, but not before sputtering and doing all it can to stay running. If I put it in neutral, it will attempt to fall flat...

Re: Help: Car Randomly Dies...
I truly appreciate all of your help! The car seems to be fine now, thank god. I have a new MAF sensor in reserve and will certainly give it a try if a similar issue arrives.

Re: Help: Car Randomly Dies...
So I was right 8) Wellllllll, not quite. That vacuum leak was not caused by the hose that I had already fixed. This was a different line in a different place. As for the car, it died again today... The search for vacuum leaks continues. I find it amazing all of this has gone wrong at once. Fuel pum...

Re: Help: Car Randomly Dies...
So I believe I have solved the problem. I found a massive vacuum leak that had been avoiding my attention.
Thanks for the advice and I'll alert if this doesn't solve the problem.

Re: Help: Car Randomly Dies...
On my first legacy, i had a similar issue. It turned out to be the connector where the fuel pump pigtail plugs into the body harness (under the rear seat). It had accumilated some moisture in it and melted the plug. I just cut it out and hardwired it. Something to check. Thank you, I'll certainly g...

Re: Help: Car Randomly Dies...
The car did start right back up again after dying.
Today I put in an STi fuel pump I got from a friend, which seems to have "solved" the problem more or less. It has been driving fine, but has since died on two occasions, whereas before it would die about every 1,000 feet. Any other ideas?

Help: Car Randomly Dies...
My 1991 Legacy seems to die randomly while driving. It has a TD-04, top mount intercooler, and a PP6 (the PP6 is wired in, but not tuned, nor functioning). Typically, I am driving and it will run fine, then suddenly buck a few times (seemingly pulling fuel) and then simply shuts off, leaving me with...

Ground Control on 91 t-leg?
So I am thinking about putting a Ground Control kit on my 1991 Turbo Legacy. I am under the belief that 02-03 WRX struts fit and have found a corresponding kit. My question is whether or not 02-03 WRX struts fit my car, and if so, are modifications needed? Is my assumption that if 02-03 WRX struts f...

Re: PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
So i've got her running again. Today marks the first day of no leaks or issues. The PP6 is still non-functioning, and the stock injectors are back in. Thanks Macipusy for all your help. Let me know when you are back in town. As for the TPS, i thought about trying it, and probably will sometime in th...

Re: PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
Thank you Legacy777. I will follow that and let you know. I have been so busy with school and work (much harder without my car running) that I haven't been able to work on it. I have tried so many things, and really need someone who knows what they are doing. Its about time to call in the cavalry on...

Good to know. Thanks a lot, and i'll try that. I really need a wideband. Hopefully Eric can come help me out soon.

Re: PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
Just pulled the code. Came up as 22, knock sensor. So sounds like it could be an ignition problem... We are going to try to pull some timing out of it... We also reduced the analog numbers by a little and it won't idle at all now.... This would all be so much easier with a wideband.

Re: PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
Ok.... So... We tried to enter in your numbers and see what happened. The car ran for about 5 seconds, then died as usual. Then, we did the same thing, only this time i gave it some gas. It worked, and now the car will idle. However, the check engine light came on (no surprise) and the car will not ...

Re: Perfect power tuning and stuff thread
So, i had to order a MAP sensor. I got the GM 3 BAR in the mail today, and installed it. NEW ISSUE!!! After putting on a basemap, my car now only runs for about 5 seconds, then dies. The PP6 is telling me that as soon as i start my car, the deflection instantly goes to 96.1%. It is as if the deflect...

Re: PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
I have done that, and my settings are the same as yours. For some reason the deflection instantly goes to 96.1%... It doesn't make sense. haha I have heard that the deflection can be backwards and needs to be flipped... i just don't remember where i read that. And don't know how... Anyone?!?!

Re: PP6 MAF to MAP sensor change?!
Awesome!!!! It will feel so good to have this done. Thank you soooooo much! You have been very helpful. I will keep you updated. But for now, it's off to advanced auto parts to see if i cant find one of these!

Re: PP6 MAF to MAP sensor change?!
I know i need both a MAP and MAF sensor. All i need to know is where i should get a MAP sensor (if a generic one will work, they sell MAP sensors for Turbo cars at Advanced Auto parts) I do not want to use the TPS signal for deflection as many people appear to do. EDIT. I would like to run about 16 ...

Re: PP6 MAF to MAP sensor change?!
So, i am debating purchasing a generic MAP sensor at the auto parts store, and then calibrating it with the PP6. Does anyone know if this will work either?

PP6 MAP Sensor and Deflection Issues
I just installed my PP6, along with 550cc injectors. I have been running a TD04, and continue to do so. I do not currently have MAP deflection set up, and have been told not to use my TPS sensor as a replacement for MAP deflection sensor. I have been informed that i can buy a MAP sensor calibrated f...

Stock WRX DP on SS?
if we put a stock WRX downpipe onto my 91 SS, and extend the O2 sensor to go into the bung, will it make it run weird? because there are 2 cats before the sensor.
somebody mentioned that it might run rich, is that true?
