Crank Bearing with Sealant??
I am in the process of rebuilding an EJ22. I noticed during diassembly that the case halves at the bearing caps (I know this engine does not have bearing caps so pardon the term - it is the contact area when you bolt them down) had evidence of the same sealant that is used on the block case halves. ...

Thanks for the info Steve. I'll see what I can find out about the hyper-e pistons. I have to bring the heads infir work so I'll talk with the machine shop guys and see what they think. Their suppose to be reputable. I know Subaru has longevity in their blood but I don't expect any reworked engine fo...

I plan to be conservative on the boost. 4 seems to be a good working number for a good result and keep far away from detonation considering the stock N/A compression is on the fringe for a boost application. My understanding is that anything 6 and above needs intercooling and not a smart idea with 9...

THanks for the heads up. I had no intention of using used turbo pistons. The turbo pistons new are still cheaper than custom. Now that were on custom pistons another question comes to mind. I'm a little concerned with getting forged pistons due to the fact they run a little larger piston to bore cle...

EJ 22 Piston Upgrade Question
During an engine rebuild has anyone ever used EJ22 turbo pistons in a naturally aspirated EJ22 and then had the head or deck milled to bring it up to the factory n/a compression? Its much cheaper than ordering custom forged pistons for the same application and the turbo pistons are made to take a bi...

Goo to go-
I've got the samples. They might be what your looking for. Hell, it might be what were all eventually going to be looking for. If you give a place to send this stuff I send it to you to check out. Let me know.

I see the light
Hey L777, Sorry I'm late getting back to you. Things got a little dark on this end of the world for a couple of days. Anyway, I decided to sample every sealant we have. I'm laying them out on paper and a small piece of aluminum sheet metal. When I've done them all I'll throw them in a bubble pack en...

I'll mix some up for your checkout. I see what your saying about it having to be friction free. I've never went into the throttle body but could this coating have been a teflon coating? Give me a day to mix up a sample for you. There are also several sealants available to me, you've given me a reaso...

Its hard but gives if you were to press it with your finger nail. Harder than the silicone you buy in a tube over the counter. Its a two part mix, it sets up to tack free in about 30 minutes. Its totally cured in a couple hours. If you want I could mix up a sample and mail it to you for evaluation. ...

What might work would be a fuel tank sealant they use on aircraft. It cures to the consistancy of a very hard rubber. If you want to try it let me know and I'll send you some. If your interested contact me at patxpat@juno.com
