Re: Bad news, good news . . . .

I haven't been on this forum for quite some time. I rediscovered a link a few days ago and found this thread. Thought it might be time for an update! I still have the BF GT, and it is back in regular use after an enforced rest a few years ago (the car, not the owner!). The bigends began rattling abo...

I've had several BC/BF's over the years, including a BC7 4WD brand new in 1990. I gave my BF7 (with 220,000mi) to my son five years ago and replaced it with a low mileage 2.5l BG Outback. Although it was smoother and more refined, it felt very bland. I sold it twelve months ago and got the BF7 back ...

Thanks. I saw that, but from what I read, there was a Japanese market EJ20 with 190 HP that I was wondering more about. Probably runs on ridiculous octane. The 150 HP version isn't enough of a bump over an EJ22, especially a later one, to bother. We get a lot of JDM vehicles in New Zealand, yet I'v...

I have two Asus EEE 900HA netbooks with 160gig HD's and running on XP, with one of them at home and the other supporting my business software at work. I've only had them for just under a year, so perhaps too soon to make any sweeping statements about reliability yet. I can say though that neither ha...

I'm not sure if your USDM models are set up the same way, but I had a weird problem some years ago with my 2.2 NA wagon. I had the radiator re-cored, and had a new thermostat fitted at the same time. There hadn't been any overheating problems, but many of the cooling fins on the core had disappeared...

The JDM RS/RA didn't come with an auto. A Babelfish translation says that it's a GT, and that stacks up. The JDM GT had about 10kw less power than the RS and virtually all GT's were auto, but were otherwise identical to the RS in terms of suspension, trim, brakes etc. The GT was rated at 150kw, and ...

Clogged catalytic converter maybe? Or internally collapsed muffler? Intake clog? Check the whole tract. What's your compression? Does your car have EGR? Maybe a pre-O2 exhaust leak? What's your tire pressure; how's your alignment? How are the brakes, are they dragging? dragging brakes can be a big ...

Re: Some JDM part questions

I found picture of one with what is definitly a factory lip kit. Does anyone know anything about this? IMHO, it's not a lip kit, it's just the way the illustration has been drawn to exaggerate the lip. We've got JDM stuff in NZ, and the pre-facelift BC5 RS has the bumper lip unpainted in contrast w...

My 2.2 n/a 4wd wagon got to 238,000mi before getting taken out by a moron failing to stop at an intersection a few months ago. The heads had never been off.

FWIW, I sold bearings for automotive and industrial use for many years. Prior to that, I had an automotive trade background. When i got into the bearing industry & went on training courses, one of the subjects which routinely came up was how much grease to put into a bearing during installation....

That brochure is stunning! My JDM 2 litre GT turbo wagon has some of the stuff shown in the brochure, including the MOMO steering wheel. Mine is a GT S2, and has stuff like electrically operated folding exterior mirrors with heated glass elements, and a 10-stack CD changer mounted in the rear in suc...

Thanks for the encouragement, guys.

I've spent this weekend attending to a few things and swapping stuff over from the wrecked car. Just changing the wheels alone has transformed the car. Even my wife likes it!

Bad news, good news . . . .

I was travelling home on Monday evening, minding my own business when a car pulled out of a side road directly into my path. The road was wet, and in spite of my best efforts I was unable to avoid the inevitable. My car made the ultimate sacrifice . . . . http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g124/r90s_...

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g124/r90s_2006/mywagon-noplates.jpg Hi folks, I've been lurking here for a while, and figured it was time to introduce myself. I've included a piccie of my hi-roof BF wagon which I've owned for over five years, although my son drove it for much of that time. It is ...
