Re: Ej20k swap with the 550 robtune

Are you running any ej20k electronics? Or is it an ej20k long block with ej20g electronics? or?

Re: EJ22T Swap into NA Legacy - The List....

I think you need to retap the hole, or block them all. I don't think it would be a good idea for unrestricted oil to be dumping in one cylinder. The "other" closed deck ej22, from the 22b, didn't have oil squirters. You can still reuse the head gaskets as long as they haven't been used in a running ...

Re: EJ22T Swap into NA Legacy - The List....

To clarify, the WRXLink Ver 1/2 doesn't plug into the ej20g ecu, it is a complete plug-in standalone that fits inside the ecu case. The ESL requires an ej20g ecu to plug into. With either solution, they come with the software to tune from your laptop. You'll need an "evoscan" USB cable to plug into ...

Re: EJ22T Swap into NA Legacy - The List....

Aside from the robtube or straight ej20g ECU, there are other plug and play options for you, such as the ESL (it requires an ej20g ECU to plug into) and the Link WRXLink Ver 1/2. Those are fully tunable solutions that let you use any size injectors, different MAFs, different MAPs, etc. I am running ...

Re: EJ22T Swap into NA Legacy - The List....

Automatic turbo cars have a "dropping resistor" that has the same plug as the bcs, so by plugging or wiring that in you can get rid of the code. The ECU will need the MAP when you use the metal maf. Can't tell you about the new FA engines, but all ej turbo ecus rely on both the MAP and MAF to work p...

Re: ROB TUNE problems

I don't have any experience with the new robtune boards, as I had the old school eeprom chip for mine. How old is your o2 sensor and coolant temp sensor? Your vacuum and afr readings sound in the ballpark of where you want to be.

Re: Brake info/FAQ

So if I read through this correctly, I could upgrade the front brakes of my 94 turbo wagon to 06-07 4 pots, and leave the oem brakes in the rear and the biased would be okay? Based on the brake math spreadsheet, you are moving brake torque less than 1% rearwards, I'd imagine you wouldn't even feel ...

I say this with love, but we maybe get 1-2 posts a week on the BBS. I'm feeling that most enthusiasts are on Facebook and that's where you should be marketing imported parts (and posting the link here of course!) I am personally looking for a 3rd gen legacy scooped hood (Rev C, not revision D, won't...

Re: ROB TUNE problems

Negetive, the 1992-98 NA maf is what the robtune calls for. It is the same as the MAF that came with ej20g engines. Question for you Meatball, do you have an igniter that has been modified to go with your ignition converter? I don't know if it is or isn't necessary with Rob's device, but I had one w...

Re: DOHC timing belt install tips

Are you installing the belt with all the idler bearings installed? I leave the bottom one on the passenger side off when I install the belt. After putting on the belt, but before installing the last bearing, I use my breaker bar to rotate the crank towards the passenger side by several teeth. This p...

Re: Head gaskets 2.2l

The older ej22e and the newer ej22e take the same head gasket, yes. Same part number I believe

Note that 99 and newer ej22's are not an ej22e anymore and use a different gasket.

Re: Head gaskets 2.2l

Felpro only lists a graphite gasket for the older NA ej22e's. If you need an MLS gasket, the felpro ej22t is what you're after. Note that the graphite gaskets are tolerant of an imperfect mating surface, while the MLS gaskets are not. Also know that both the ej22e and ej22t came with graphite gasket...

Re: ???5spd swap problems??? Anyone???

Haha, no it's not that bad. It's around 3k rpm for 60mph. One comment I'll make, is with out a dccd controller installed, and due to the rear bias, this is the most dangerous Subaru trans I've ran. Absolutely no traction in the snow, ice and rain since the center diff is 100% open without a controll...

You got this! The swapping to manual alone is badass, but going with an RA trans? Be ready for brutal acceleration and terrible fuel economy, at least till you get used to it. :)

Re: ???5spd swap problems??? Anyone???

So I just checked the bolts for my old 98 outback, it's thread pitch for those was M12x1.25. So either the 98 Outback and 98 Impreza have different pitch (unlikely) or I had some wierd bolts that I just installed (most likely). As you can see from the pic, I helicoiled the holes since the threads we...

Re: ???5spd swap problems??? Anyone???

They should be concealed under plugs. The thread size of the 17mm bolts that go there is: M12x1.5mm. I'm cleaning up mine due to going "full send it" last time.

Edit, not sure about the size.

Very cool mod! I've had El cheapo LED's in the main cabin light, left that light on over night, and came to a car that still started in the morning. The less power draw alone is worth it for me

If all you're trying to do is trade the car in, I'd look around for 1 or both ej25d heads and put those on. The ej25d heads don't have to be from a 1999.

Re: Swapping a 2.5l dohc out for a 2.2l sohc

The ej25d-engined 1999 legacys all had phase 1 engine wiring, mixed with phase 2 transmission electronics. The ej22-engined 1999 legacys had phase 2 engine and transmission wiring. That makes the ecu the problem main. There's no ej22 ecu that supported phase 1 engine and phase 2 transmission. In old...
