Re: rough idle
Sorry about not keeping in touch with this. Life and work have been hectic. I going to get a injector for that cylinder. Sometimes it actually idles fine but most of the time it's rough at idle. In the upper rpm range it seems to run just fine. Makes me think that at higher rpms it has more suction ...

Re: rough idle
Hey Josh thanks for the info. I didn't think about a dead injector. The plug is the exact same color as the rest but I'll double check it tomorrow and test the injector. Thanks

Re: rough idle
I've used a vacuum hose and listened around the motor and all hoses. Nothing, I'll try the spray method. I have fire on all plugs.
It's only that 1 cylinder that does it.
Thanks

rough idle
1991 Legacy L At idle it's rough. It shakes like it's missing on at least 2 cylinders. I have pulled all the plug wires. 3 of them have an effect on idle, more rough idle. 1 has no affect at all when the plug wire is removed. When the rpms are raised from idle the motor runs smooth. Dealership tells...

Re: Sluggishness?
I don't know if this will help you but it's worked for me so far. I have a 1991 RHD. The Master mech. at my dealership told me that the motor builds up a lot of carbon. Since most of my day is idling at mailboxes. Carbon breaks loose and causes a valve to stick open. Rough idle and acts like it's mi...

Re: cooling fan not working?
I replaced to 2 wire sensor. It's a 1991 Legacy L. I checked the fuses. I looked in the relay -fuse box under the hood. I didn't see a relay for the fan, only a fuse. The fan for the AC comes on when it's turned on. The primary fan doesn't. I checked with a test light and I don't have any power to t...

Re: Starting Problem
29* this morning and it has started all day without any problems. It will be about a week before we have any more real cold weather. If I have any more problems in the colder weather I will post. When it is cold the Bosch plugs acted like they were fouled. In warm temps the plugs acted just fine. We...

Re: Starting Problem
Hey guys, I just got my subby from the dealership. The tech said when he would try to crank it everything checked and all readings were correct. I had Bocsh Platnium +4 spark plugs. He changed them out with NGK plugs. He had told me before to only use NGK plugs. The car is starting now every time. I...

Re: Overheating Problem... anyone? anyone?
I drill 1 or 2 1/8" holes in the t-stat. This allows the trapped air on the motor side of the t-stat a place to escape from. 1 hole if your in a cold climate and 2 if in a warmer climate. I've tried 3 and 4 holes but in winter it will not retain heat while driving.

Re: Starting Problem
Well it cranked and I dropped it off at the dealership for them to look at. I'll call him on Monday and ask him what the other thing was. I'm just getting old and forgetting. It comes with the job. You have to forget what you did the day before. Remembering everything for 600 families would drive yo...

Re: Starting Problem
Sorry to hear the new switch didn't cure the problem,I was hoping. I talked to the tech at my local Subaru dealership. He worked with a service tech who experienced something like this. He said that when the key turns it wakes up 2 systems; the computer and oh no I forgot the 2nd. He said that one s...

Re: Starting Problem
I'm having the same problem. I have replaced the Temp sensor with no luck. Some times it stumbles to crank or when I let off the switch it tries to start. Some times when it seems to fire if I hold the gas pedal to the floor it will crank, sometimes but not today. I wonder if the ignition switch is ...
