Re: How To: Center Diffs

I went back and looked at the broken gears I have and both of them are the same thickness. I feel better now about my setup.
I still wish I would have taken pics of this stuff. *facepalm*

Re: How To: Center Diffs

Nice job Josh. I already did my bearing job and I saw some obvious differences in phase 1 vs phase 2. One thing that kind of worried me when I saw the rear plate with both gears in it. Since that was a phase 1 trans in the pic I can safely say that the gears aren't supposed to be meshed flat across,...

What happened to the pics?

I was planning on doing this job to my Fozzy soon and would like the reference.

Re: HVAC controls not working all the time

Brisky I would have to say you problem sounds like it's a bad solder connection. When I had to solder my unit the lights would come on for the setting but the fan wouldn't come on unless I hit it hard enough for the bad connection to touch. If a resistor is bad the fan wont work on 1 or more settings.

I need flywheel advice

I need help figureing out what to do with my spare 2.2L flywheel. I need to do the clutch in my 99 Forester and I don't have the time to get the flywheel that's on the car resurfaced before I get the new clutch in. My question is do I need to have the step down cut into the flywheel? The spare has i...

Re: Blower motor problem

So I went out to the junkyard today and found a blower motor from a 96 legacy. I compared them before I bought it and they're close but I will need to fab an adapter plate because they redesigned it a bit. The motor housing is slightly bigger on the new plastic one but the over all diameter is small...

Blower motor problem

Does anyone know if I can use a blower motor from a 2nd gen car in my 90?

I'm pretty sure the brushes in mine are shot.

I'd like to be able to get something locally if possible. There's an import car junk yard near me that I can raid for parts if it's doable.

Thanks.

240 miles later I still do not have a single drip or seep!

I'm going to call this repair good.

Re: Power steering pump rebuild kit

So I bought the kit, the reservoir o-ring and the high pressure line o-ring. I cleaned up the body real good and put everything back in that I had, had no parts left over, and it seems as if it did the trick. So far there's no leaks that I can see and I didn't know it until after the fix how much qu...

Purge Control Solenoid

So I need to get a new purge control solenoid.

A brand new one runs around $77. I found a used one on ebay that look pretty decent and is only $37.

Would you guys gamble on the used part or just bite the bullet and buy a new one?

If you connect the green diagnostic connectors that will set all the relays to cycle on and off.

Re: Big lifter problem..

Have you tried running any cleaning detergents in the oil? You might have a clogged passage going on.

I have run seafoam in my oil from time to time to clean it out some before I change the oil. I've also heard that substituting 1 quart of some ATF in place of the oil helps clean it too.

I found Josh's post here http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24143 What I wanted to know is the rebuild kit that Iron monkey listed, 34419AA030, what all comes in that? Is it everything shown in the picture in the parts catalog? There's also talk about the reservoir o-ring not bein...

Power steering pump rebuild kit

Does anyone know where I could get one for my 90?

I've seen rebuild kits for the 1st gen Impreza. Would that work on mine?

Thanks

Re: HVAC controls not working all the time

You have bad resistors in the fan switch. That's why it only worked on setting 1 & 4. I'm not sure how easy it is to replace those resistors but I know that's what's wrong with my wife's van, fan setting 5 does not work. I do know that they're supposed to be on the fan box itself behind the glov...

Re: Manual shifter issues

Final update!! Good news! All those bushings were well worth the money!! It is so much tighter now compared to what it was. The shifter doesn't bounce to the right anymore either. Bad news! The true cause of the hard shifting was a faulty trans. I drove it for a month like that before I picked a rep...

Parts list for outback swap

What would I need to change out if I were to put outback struts on my 90 sedan?

I plan on doing the rears first and was wondering if I'll have to change more than just the strut itself.

Thanks guys.

Re: HVAC controls not working all the time

I would guess there's some blown resistors on the blower motor. That's separate from the HVAC unit. My wifes van, it's a chevy venture, doesn't have the #5 setting and it's from a blown resistor. I couldn't tell you where on the motor it would be but the blower motor is directly behind the glove box...

Re: Automatic Seat Belt not being triggered...

I had an issue with my trigger not being pressed in all the way. Kept showing on the dash that my door wasn't shut. I took a small square of cardboard and glued it on the door where it meets the trigger and the light hasn't come back on.
