Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Yeah I think that’s the route I’m going to go. The whole underside of the car needs to be heavily cleaned and sealed either way.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

I have an exhaust! https://i.imgur.com/Jwou7BIl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/n9AWEi5l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WfxuVDCl.jpg I also took the opportunity to check out everything under the car while it was on the lift. There are definitely a bunch of things that need to be addressed: Need to Replace: Rear Dr...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

On the power door locks, these cars were kind of funky because the LHD driver's door did not have any sort of electrical actuator installed on it. However, the other doors did have actuators that locked/unlocked and were triggered by unlocking/locking the driver's door. With the RHD cars I would as...

Re: DIY RHD Power Steering Lines

Yessir! I will compile and label the photos I have, then get them uploaded.

Also, I’m happy to report the lines work perfect and don’t even whine!

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

What's up with the power locks? Speedo, do you have the cable hooked up? I’m not sure what is up with the power locks honestly. So originally the driver door wouldn’t open and after inspecting inside there seems to be some sort of actuator in there. It is not plugged in because that door was purcha...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Started to clean some stuff up today now that the car runs and drives. Took the airbox setup out and cleaned under it. Cleaned the airbox too, looks brand new now. Eventually, probably over this winter, I will be taking all of this shit back out so the bay can be properly shaved and resprayed. https...

DIY RHD Power Steering Lines

Ok, so there are a few threads around that serve as a walk through to make your own power steering lines, however none of them are RHD specific. Figured I would write this up so people can avoid buying the wrong shit three times like I did. This is the thread I originally found, which has a ton of g...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Ok, the new parts came and shocker, I was wrong again! Then I went to a local store, three times, and was finally able to get everything together properly! My power steering works! https://i.imgur.com/kDLmNBCl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oTAeHzDl.jpg Still super messy, but I will get it all cleaned up a...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

The parts for my power steering lines came. Looks like I did not consider the differences in RHD vs LHD when I got together the parts. On my car the lines from the pump go directly to the rack, whereas on a LHD car the lines first go to a junction of sorts on the right side of rack, then hard lines ...

So how do you like driving it?
I dig it! I haven't handled the exhaust issue yet, so I haven't been driving it much. I also desperately need to get my power steering connected and working. Other than that it has been very nice!

Josh was right of course, the timing had skipped a tooth. Fixed and car fired right up. I spent most of the day yesterday driving around town:

Yessir, getting a nice spark and plenty of fuel. Going to check compression next. Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Updates: My friend looked over the car and checked everything out, it seems like there was just a lot of build up on the headers and that was just burning off, so that is where the smoke was coming from. So he said it was good to go, I went over there to pick it up and now the car wont start again. ...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Updates: I took the car to a friends house to replace the pan, which was successful and also a pain in the ass. We also did a slew of other little things that needed to get done. Attached GD wrx sway bar, bled brakes, finally put the pins in the axles, and attempted to get power steering installed b...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

I’m honestly not sure. It seems pretty unlikely that it just happened out of nowhere but there is no visible damage to the pan, and the spot where it is leaking is on the side, so I can’t imagine something making contact. Also, the car was never driven with this motor in it.

It’s a mystery

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

So over the last few weeks I have noticed an increasing amount of oil present on the ground under the car, but have been unable to find where its coming from. Yesterday I spent some time under the car cleaning all the gunk off the bottom of the motor and I have located the problem, there is a pinhol...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

I'm not sure how that turndown pipe is going to take care of your exhaust issue. It's still going to be an open header more or less. It won't really I guess, but it will make it at least exiting somewhere other than directly into the bottom of my hood haha. Thanks for the scans. I am going to work ...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

IT IS ALIVE!!

I soldered the connections for the crank position sensor and tucked it all away nicely. Wire brushed the plugs before I put them back in, and boom it started up on the first turn of the key.

I am still throwing a CEL, code 42.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

After I put the motor in the car I got brand new plugs and wires. I didnt check for that but I will tomorrow. I drained about six gallons maybe, then put another six gallons in. Yes the needle bounces now that I fixed the sensors. :) I haven't checked the coil pack or ignitor beyond making sure ever...
