Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

Got back from my weekend in Tenino for Beatrsubi's Oktoberfest madness, and the beginnings of finally rebuilding my 1991 SS EJ22T! We pulled the engine and got the heads off and have determined that one side needs it so gonna have to bore the cylinder walls slightly and get oversized pistons. Legacy...

Re: 2nd annual beatersubi beers&brats meet

Here's what the Googles put together automagically from the photos I took on my phone... mostly photos of pulling the engine and removing the heads, but theres some shots of the fire in there and a couple videos of the rallycross action (as driven by Randomiam with me in the passenger seat). (shared...

Re: How did you fit / mount your 16G?

Photo added to first post. I meant to say the rear passenger intake manifold runner is squashing the turbo inlet hose and deforming it a bit. It is not between two runners as i originally thought. Is there some sort of subaru rotated mount turbo adapt kit or something or is it a huge deal to do? htt...

Re: Installing the RobTune Eprom itself

You may have purchased the raw chip that Rob flashes with his custom firmware. Rob puts a sticker on top to denote the tune, the date, and thr customer. Does it look as though it has remnants of a sticker on there?

Re: How did you fit / mount your 16G?

That was definitely part of the problem but i still am interested in options to mount the turbo so i dont have to squeeze my 90 degree inlet silicone elbow between the intake manifold runners. So there is some sort of method to rotate the mounting? That sounds promising... i will look into that as i...

Re: Robtuned with 16g! Working out the kinks...

Ok.. one of the reducing couplers had to be doubled up to adapt the sizes, and apparently one had just worked its way into the throttle body. Not caused by the ecu. My intetcooler piping is deteriorating after 9ish years... hacked together out of what i could find, which was not all silicone. Also, ...

Re: Robtuned with 16g! Working out the kinks...

Hrm... new problem since ECU install. Gave it a little boost yesterday, then when i went to shift it pegged at redline. Kicking the accelerator appeared ineffective. I had to turn the key off and back on in order to regain control. Yikes. Its tough to suspect sudden mechanical issued with the accele...

How did you fit / mount your 16G?

So... now that i have my robtune setup running, i am finding that i cant seem to build more than 11 or 12psi with my 16g...at which point the boost immediately starts decreasing. i have a simple MBC (dawes devices hybrid mbc, appeads to be made from Ace Hardware parts) which was perfctly happy diali...

Re: Robtuned with 16g! Working out the kinks...

Update: Managed to get the old EJ20G ECU out (the one with the RobTune v1.0 "disabled" from the "repaired" resistor) and prepped the new RobTuned v1.1 ECU for installation. Here are photos of the old ECU. Note the lack of a chip socket pin poking all the way through where the arr...

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?

Got my new RobTune550 ECU and installed it yesterday (swapped out the old EJ20G ECU with the disabled RobTune). Fired right up last night, gonna drive it to work this morning! (This is in my '94) Boost should still be at 12psi for today but gonna try turning it up after work if test drive went ok. M...

Re: Robtuned with 16g! Working out the kinks...

Update: got my replacement RobTune ECU in the mail yesterday! Gonna try and get it swapped out this weekend and compare the two boards while i have them out. Fcd is also gone now. Been running 12psi on ej20g ecu. Seems to be working decently, although cold starts appear to be something this setup st...

I have an EGT gauge installed on cylinder 3, have had it for several years now. exhaust temperatures are regularly around 1400*F and under boost can approach 1600*F.
