Re: Compiled brake information

Why are the caliper pins different from top to bottom on my 07 FXT brakes? In the front and rear as well the pins are of a different shape mounting flange and the plastic material at the end is different. I didn't pay attention when I removed them to paint the brackets so they could all be upside do...

I am not sure what the previous owner did but the ABS light is not on and the fuse is still good but the ABS does nothing. I locked up the front wheels for a good 20 feet to be sure.

Re: Finally a real rwd option is in the works

I just read the entire thread over on USMB. One thing I don't understand is that I thought the early r154 was the same as the w58 as far as the input shaft was concerned. Specifically a 1988 Supra W58 vs a 1988 Supra R154. I had both and I don't remember them being that much difference. Before Subar...

Re: Compiled brake information

I swapped everything. From stock 91SS to complete 07 FXT (with H6 rear brackets/rotors). So now its 295mm Front 290mm Rear?

I bled the brakes until the fluid came out clear. I can't figure out why the pedal would be "soft" otherwise

Crap, I had forgotten that they changed the pad design midway through 2003. If you haven't used the pads already I suggest using 2002 WRX brackets instead because those are the ones I got from Autozone. I did find the 2004 brackets here http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/A1C3/141670.oap?year=2...

Re: WTB: AWIC inlet hose

There are two much nicer and lesser expensive solutions IMO. 1. Have a nipple of the appropriate size and have it welded and have it welded to the back of the metal inlet tube on the AWIC. Then you can have the BPV in essentially the same location as stock. 2. By a flange meant for the standard MY02...

Re: 94 EJ22T running rough

Connect it anywhere on the manifold after the throttle plate. I don't have a good picture at the moment. You could use the line that goes to the brake booster on cylinder runner 4. This is a larger hose, maybe 3/4 inch? Its right between the throttle linkage and the drivers side strut tower. Or the ...

What? Lots of auto parts stores carry that bracket. I don't know where you've been shopping but I know for a FACT that Autozone and Rockauto can get them for under 40$

Re: 94 EJ22T running rough

Whatever caused the valve to burn the first time is probably still there.Connect a vacuum gauge and tell us what it reads at idle. If its not around 20inch of mercury then you have a vacuum leak. My guess is your intake manifold gasket is leaking which causes the miss and that cylinder to burn the v...

Re: Frankenbeater Version 4. Want to help me?

The 05+ LGT 316mm front rotors and vented rears is not an upgrade IMO. You move the already unbalanced bias even farther forward AND increase amount of unsprung and rotational weight. Remember the farther the mass is from the center of a "flywheel" the more energy it takes to change its sp...

Why do you want LGT brakes then? Just buy a set of WRX brakes and upgrade them to the same specification.

I plan to keep the stock ride height or even raise the car. This would be a cheap way to corner balance it.

Re: "Coilover" conversion for stock strut/spring (height adj

Not exactly. What I had seen was that you keep everything original and just replace the spring. The strut is not changed other than a threaded sleave slid over the top. http://www.andysautosport.com/images/small/ground_control/sm__gc_coil.jpg It was like this http://www.ground-control-store.com/prod...

Re: Frankenbeater Version 4. Want to help me?

Forester XT is the turbo EJ255 model. Same drivetrain as a WRX basically. For my birthday somoene gave me a complete brake setup from their 07 FXT - four rotors, four calipers, four brackets, 8 pads. All I had to buy were the parts mention above (99 shipped) and get some different shape rearbrake pa...

"Coilover" conversion for stock strut/spring (height adjust)

I remember reading this a few years back but cannot figure out which forum it was on. It was a list of parts that you could use with the stock struts and tophats to get height adjustability. There was a sleeve that clamped around the strut tube and a set of "universal" springs with differe...

If you are being cheap buy some emergency blankets from the camping store. They are essentially the same as the adhesive Mylar used for intercoolers.

Subaruparts.com will not do it even though the following EXTRAORDINARY fricking conditions are met - I would have faxed my 2012 registration and ID both of which have the same name/address I would have used a credit card with name and billing address matching the above documents I have ordered parts...

It's bullshit for two reasons - Your insurance company can screw up the amounts due and the cancellation notice sent to the dmv is instant. Even if its not your fault (or was because you were out of the country or in the hospital) you then have to go back to the DMV and pay a fee to reinstate it. Wh...

The Legacy Turbo drivetrain is essentially the same as the WRX. In fact the replacement pressure plate and disc people use are often the my02+ USDM WRX parts.
