Plus Size Tire Experience Needed...

Post by frood »

Hi gang. Looking to get some new tires for the grocery getter:
1993 Legacy AWD , 14" rims

Have stock 185-70-R14 tires on it

Considering Running:
195-70-14 (diameter +.50", RPM -18)
195-65-14 (diameter -.89", RPM +8)

I'd probably like to run the 195-70-14 for better economy and a -hare- of height clearance.

These are pretty mild changes, only +.25" either side of original, but it would be nice to hear someone who has run one of these without issues.

Thanks a million!

haha, PLUS SIZE EXPERIENCE! That thread title had me rolling before i realized you had a legit question. Subaru suspension isn't meant for plus size action, ya know?

Scott, thanks. Will go for the slightly larger rollers (195-70-14)

"Plus size experience" ... heh. Perhaps I should try the big 'n tall shops?

All I needed was the nod from Scott; I'll give the larger rubber donuts a go.

yeah, the 205/55-16s many people have (stock WRX), including myself, are even slightly taller than the 195/70-14s. I've had no issues with rubbing or anything of the sort, although it's pretty close to the fenders and struts compared to the old 185s. Doesn't someone here have 225s or something?

I have 225's on a 17x7.5" + 48 rim. Barely rubs, but rolling the fenders cures it.

hmmm. I bet some 215/50s on 16x7 RS wheels would be money, then.
