Honda 1/2 ton pickup? Boy is it ugly! I've always thought it'd be cool if Honda released a truck in the US but damn, that thing is ugly as shit. Haha

Yeah, im not too crazy about the shape either, but i know that the older a design is the more it's loved. Every old car is a classic, and everyone complains about new looks. The bugeye was derided when it came out, and i often hear how the bugeye is so great and the 04 is bland.

As for the truck itself, it looks excellent. The chassis design is superb, fully closed rails are just mentioned at the wayside while they brag about the design. IRS (which i assume has a mechanism to keep weight balanced) Honda reliablility, vtec, and a slew of convienence features. I wonder if those things can combat the 27k base price, you know the penis-deficient buyer doesnt want a honda, and many legit truck users probably dont have that kind of money to burn. Time will tell.

Somehow I can't see vtec resonating with truck buyers like hemi seems to.

When I hear "Ridgeline" I don't think of some impressive vista in the high Sierras, but rather the top of a roof; and strangely enough the truck looks like a roofline with its angular nonsense.

I'm sure it drives nice enough, but for me, if it doesn't have an 8 foot bed, it ain't a truck.

I'd rather cut the roof off of a Legacy wagon, and use that as a "truck" than a Honda.

I wouldn't tow a toothpick with a Honda. I bet it's a unibody truck too, isn't it?

I'd rather have an El Camino any day. Make mine with the Conquista package, 'ese.

Still, if I ever need a truck I'm buying a hearse. The trucks I like would be too nice to beat on.

I read somewhere that the Avalach-ey rear wing things are because it is unibody. It was needed to keep the entire body ridged. . It’s cargo capacity is better than the Tundra’s and very close to even some of the domestics, and the tailgate is rated to a few hundred pounds. The huge trunk in the back of the bed is pretty cool too, maybe ending forever the need for those damn diamond plate truck boxes. Of course there is no low range and can only tow 5000lb, but I’d venture to say that 90% of big truck owners don’t utilize those features on their monstrosities. And the other 10% are not people that Honda is going after, the main market is for current Honda owners that are thinking about a truck. While I’m not a fan, I think Honda will do alright with these.

Funny you should mention that, you reminded me of a 90-91 Legacy wagon I saw about a month ago that had the roof and pillars cut off behind the front doors, and was painted light yellow. It looked kinda half-assed though

It's body on frame. And Chevy doesnt even use fully closed rails. I believe the avalanche-y things are used to boost the stiffness even further. Try riding in the back of a truck on a dirt road with your fingers between the bed and the cab.
