Post by LaureltheQueen »

i couldnt find anything when i searched, do you scuff the sidemarker before painting it, or just mask and do a few light coats?

I was going to ask this question here soon too. I think that black paint is going to fux0r it.

I did mine. Roughed it up with teh sand paper and shot 3 coats.

Looks gooooood, doesn't draw any attention at all :).

P.S. Vikash will call us rice for this. I would MUCH rather find that peice of trim from a 90-91 and eliminate the light all together.

hehe, I did that, too. just mask and spray, it's okay. The trick is to do it in the right temperature, though.. I did mine in the cold, and the shivering made me spray all funny. --that, and later, I popped one out the wrong way, and it won't go back in.. now it's just a light bulb. :(
Be careful, yo.
Laurel, seriously, use Nightshades by VHT, it's worth trying to find it, and it's only ~$8/ can.

Has anyone taken the orange piece out and tried to fabricate a clear one out of something else to match?? I might go to the JY today and get a few spare ones and try it out.

I thought of that, but how do you make clear plastic like that? Can you turn orange to clear?
..and I know its rice, but is it illegal to have other colors in that bulb? You know, like a bluish, or something? or how about the silver dealies that don't show thru, but flash orange.. that's better.
(I'm sorry.)

Plain clear plastic wouldn't disperse the light properly. There'd be a dumb looking bright spot where the bulb is. The plastic is orange through and through.

Yeah, a couple years ago some guy at my highschool got a ticket for blue turn signals on his honda. That should tell you all you need to know about blue signals.

Blue and red (in the wrong place, like a bow light on your bumper, for example) will get you in trouble.

Besides, I've got a pretty trick project grille I wanted your opinion on, too, since you're the 'ricer' judge/queen. :D
I'm free for like four hours a day, just tell me where to find the plastic, and what tools to use, and chances are, I could fab a whole bunch and practically give 'em away here!

I picked up a broken rear tail light and am in the process of using the inner clear plastic reflectors to make a clear one. When i get done, I will see how well it works.

Krylon makes paint that adheres to plastic with no extra prep. Pick the color and go to town.
