93 door on a 90. connector problem

Post by isotopeman »

i just replaced the damaged door on my 90 legacy wagon with one from a 93 sedan in a not-so-nearby junkyard. it fits fine, but the connectors are different. The door from my car had two plugs, whereas the 93 door has one large plug and an adapter. The adapter has two plugs that plug into the ones in my wagon, as well as a two-conductor third plug that's without a mate. The power mirrors, locks and speaker works (swapped with the one from my old door), but the window does not. Could this plug be the culprit? Any idea where these other two wires from the 93 door go to?

This sounds like an electrical connection update issue. Somewhere between 90 and 93, which also included a facelift, and other interior modifications, Subaru probably changed/tweaked their window plug configuration and/or style, so you may end up doing some minor electrical work by yourself. The more complex answer I'll probably leave to vrg3, but of course, I should really learn how to do my own research on this kinda stuff...
