West Coast Legacy Central Camping Possibilities

Okay, Hardy and I have been talking, errrm, typing, and have come up with a possibility. Here's what we've come up with...
We camp somewhere in central Oregon, it's more likely to be warmer, and there's more state parks in the area. We take a day trip to Hillsboro area for dynoing at Perfection Motorsports if anyone wants to, and Karting, screwing around, whatever. Perhaps we could even arrange a tour of Rallitek, as Portland isn't too far away. So, that's what we've come up with so far...

Here's the choices that I've found Park-wise in alphabetical order

Detroit Lake State Recreation Area - 104.8 miles (2 hours, 11 minutes)
Tent Sites are $16/night
Appears to be relatively heavily wooded, on a huge lake, lots of camp sites, probably be busy

Devil's Lake State Park - 113.6 miles (2 hours, 58 minutes)
Tent Sites are $17/night
Appears to be relatively heavily wooded, on a smaller lake, not TONS of camp sites, but quite a few, looks relatively residential

Milo Mciver State Park - 46.5 miles (1 hour, 5 minutes)
Group Tent rate is listed at $64/night
Appears wooded and a bit overgrown, but there's a frisbee golf course, it's near a river, and close to Hillsboro

Silver Falls State Park - 82.0 miles (2 hours, 18 minutes)
Tent Sites are $16/night
Appears to have tons of trails, looks to be more open, has 10 waterfalls, horse trails, and has a huge list of stuff that it offers

South Beach State Park - 142.1 miles (4 hours, 7 minutes)
Tent site rates are listed as $65/group?
Looks open, situated between grass-covered dunes and the ocean, perk of staying here is that it's near the Newport Aquarium and my mom's gf's aunt has 2 Fish and Chips places that are mad grubbin within a few minutes of there

These of course arent the only places that we can stay, but suggestions are very welcome. I couldn't find anything very close to Hillsboro itself that was on any kind of water.

I used to camp out at Davis Lake in Central Or a lot growing up. It's pretty sweet. Lava Lake and Elk Lake are pretty sweet too because they're right by Mt. Bachelor but they're a lot smaller then Davis L. There are a lot of cool caves to go explore in that area too and the Deschutes Brewery makes the best damn porter EVER! Mmmm, I miss my Black Butte.

IIRC you can rent cabins and stuff at Crescent Lake. That's a beautiful lake too.

I wish I could come.

And I like the idea of a group campsite where we can all park together, camp together, cook together, slee . . . . er uhm. . . yeah. . . talk together.

Being on a lake might be nice though. Devils Lake looks pretty damn cool, although I am partial to frisbee golf

Lake's are almost always better than rivers/streams for screwing around/swimming in during the summer.

One thing to maybe think about, is that were gonna be in a bad drought this year, campfires may be a "no no" out east in the middle of summer.

And not to be a poop head, but I hate state campgrounds. Id give up running water, for not being told to be quiet by some old bag at 9PM.

My camping spot is between Hillsboro, and Tillamook.(Jones Creek) Its free, legal, all sorts of smooth fire roads, no neighbors, room for thousands of people, plenty of hiking/fishing/swimming, but no running water.

Just my two cents.

depending on how many you expect in a group, there should be more then that available, in smaller sizes for a 1G legacy specific group...

I'm down for camping wherever. I particularly like the idea of being able to be loud past 9pm

I'm not too keen on state parks either, I'd just like to have a place to swim and screw around in the water if we're going to be there all weekend.

Okay, I just checked, and if we're going to be camping at Milo McIver, we're going to need to make reservations soon. I'd prefer to have running water, but would be willing to do without it if there was a clean body of water nearby that I could wash my hair and shave in(I'm a girl, leave me alone).

Anywhoodle, we should probably make a decision in the next week to ensure we get a spot to camp if we do decide to stay at a state park
