Poison oak relief?
Now I know everyone has their own theories on what works to get rid of poison ivy and poison oak. I got into some last week dropping a few trees, it's right on the wrist and forearm. I usually put kerosene on it when I get it, but we didn't have any at the house this time. I tried some acetone to dry it out, yeah I know I'll die of cancer some day but stuff's good for a lot of things. Well the acetone didn't work and I've been putting hyrdrocortisone on it and it hasn't really been doing that much. Anybody have any other good home or store bought remedies?

Store: Fred Meyer, maybe other health food stores.
Remedy: Tea Tree Oil, commonly known as "Maleuca Alternafolia". (~$11-13, it's kinda expensive)
Smells a bit funny, but boy if it doesn't do wonders for any skin condition. Used it on my acne for a time.. it certainly helps. Heck, I even put it in my hair, too! It's good stuff.

Thanks. I decided that I was going to get rid of the oils and I went digging into my cleaning supplies. Hit it with a bit of 409 kitchen antibacterial and also washed it good with some laundry detergent. Afterwards I did a good wipe down with rubbing alcohol and it feels a lot better. I'll see how it's doing this evening and if I have to I'll pick up some tea tree oil and get mom to pay for it

tea tree oil is great stuff, but be careful, it kills living tissue. may be exactly what you need though

Marine On/Off - it has a high concentration of hydrochloric acid.

No No No... Look, just tie a rubber band REALLY tight around your arm at the elbow. In a few days, the affected area will turn blue and drop off along with the rest of your arm. No more itch! (till the phantom pains come) Then, use tea tree oil for the phantom pains.

If its bad enough, you can go to the doctor and get steroids .(methylprednisolone)
Otherwise just tough it out and don't scratch it! Some Domebero (aluminum acetate) will help with the blisters...

Oh... and if it looks like this... avoid public places!

It's definately not that bad, damn son. If were ever to get that bad I'd be finding some needles at the local farm supply store and draining those things myself, ew. Glad you got over it all.

Oh, I get it... One night, I hit a clutser on my bed frame and it hurt like sh*t! From then on, it would always leak all over my arm.91legacy_sleeper wrote:Hooooooooollly frickin' Moses! I'm pretty sure I've seen that before in a thread here, but.. damn, that's scary-lookin'. Makes ME want to weep. (c'mon.. who gets the pun?)
And the big bubble in the first pic... Me and some friends were on our way to the beach and I was driving my car... I reach down to downshift and BAM!!! the big one hits my friend's arm and leaks all over him!
So, he's freakin out cuz my bodily fluid exploded all over his arm!
And i'm freakin out cuz I got blister juice running down my arm!
And the people in the back seat are freakin out cuz the people in the front seat are freakin out and beacause they are grossed out!
So we're both searching frantically for napkins to get it off... All while trying to maintain control of the vehicle!
..... Good times! It turned out to be a great day at the beach, and my blisters got a nice tan!
