HA HA HA! No more snail speed for me!

Post by dscoobydoo »

In everything we do, there is always progress. Cars get faster, computers get faster, fast food gets faster, etc

I figure this is the year for me to get speed.
I finally bought a new 3.0ghz laptop and DSL. (replacing my old 350 mhz laptop and dialup.)

And the turbo car will get a new bigger turbo this year too (if I have my way) Looking at a super 16G .

Ahhh, tis the year to go into debt (as I currently have none)

Speed costs money- the only question is how fast do you want to go/spend?
Yes I have too many Subarus

Cool man, good luck with your install.

Not to argue with you but I think there's a lot of regression going on in the world too but it's a moot point.

Congratulations on your new plans.

Scott, what kind of regression? I know I'm guilty of some.. in some different ways, but.. what are you talking about?

Cars get faster, use more fuel after a period of conservation.

Computers get faster, are able to do more and become more complex. . Everything becomes more complex and interdependent and requires less human intervention leading to complacency and laziness and raises the possiblity that one failure could cause a chain of events (solar flare)

Fast food gets faster and more unhealthy all the time. They tell you they're addressing it and that it's your fault if you become fat or retarded but the more things advance it seems the more we de-evolve and become lazy.

Drugs become more effective and extend life. Populations soar out of control and we have the social security problems and other unforseen issues. All of this is debateable but there's a shred of truth to it all. Conspicous consumption is the name of the game and if you don't need something someone will find a way to convince you that you do need it.

For every problem we as a race solve we create two more.

Sorry scoob, I'm not hijacking your thread.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

LMAO- damn- what a pessimist. Go get a coke, and do 90- on the freeway.

J/K

Progress has it's costs. No matter what the progress is.

That in part is the point of my thread.

"A pessimist is just an optimist with experience" - Woody Allen

"A pessimist is just an optimist in full possesion of the facts" - Anon

"A pessimist is just an optimist who has recieved his degree" - Unknown

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live as one." - John Lennon

I am pessimistic but I have some small shred of hope that things can turn a corner from where they seem to be heading. It's just hard to be an optimist when you watch the news everyday and read a lot of books. :)

Getting a coke and driving 90 seems like a good idea to me. :)
