GT4: Challenge the Ring

Post by legacy92ej22t »

OK, here's the deal. We're starting a fastest lap competition around the ring in GT4. The car has been decided apon as a 3.0R Legacy. However we are voting on sedan or wagon. Post your vote.

Poll only last until Monday so vote now!

Oh ya, no modding what so ever on the Legacy. It must remain 100% stock. The only thing you are allowed is oil changes.

May the best person win!

Is this an LCO event, or at your work Matt?

I haven't played in like 2 weeks, but my last time was 6'58''002 in my Buick Grand National. Woah.

Sorry, no tires. Has to remain 100% stock except oil changes.

Phil- LCO, I myself, will be playing it at work though since I still don't own it. This puts me at an extreme disadvantage. I do not expect to win. :)

We can't start posting times until the sedan/wagon poll is over. Until then we don't know which car to get. Looks like sedan is off to a good start though.

stock tuning is allowed, right?

Stock tires are the sports right, we dont need to downgrade?

However the car comes from the "dealership" is how it is driven. The ONLY change made is oil. So tires, suspension.. all that stuff.. Stock.

What can you tune stock? Just the weight dist and the traction stuff right?

I dunno, I think stock tuning would make it a little more interesting. Playing around with it a bit you can get it handle more like you want if you mess with what little settings you have. Plus TCS is kinda annoying

TCS, allignment and weight distro. I'm all for suspension tuning, you can do it in d-stock and i can't drive most cars in stock form very well.

The whole point is to have a completely level playing field here guys. If someone doesn't know how to properly setup WD and/or allignment, they're at a disadvantage (even if it is small).

It's completely stock, however it's setup when you buy it, and oil changes only.

Looks like it is probably going to be the sedan too. :)

Okay okay, sheesh. No tuning :(. But you can't adjust any suspension stock. Only ASM oversteer, ASM understeer, TCS, and Weight Distribution. It is fun to kick the ass out around the long turns though :D

I was interested in this post (there is a similar one on the NASIOC forums in the SouthEast region, but with different spec cars), but if you aren't even going to allow turning TCS/ASM off, then I guess I'll pass.

While I whole-heartedly agree in keeping the car stock (so it's a driving skill competition, not a tuning skill competition), and even agree that weight distro should stay stock (for the same reason), the driver aids are to make the cars handlable for novices and just get in the way of driving the car correctly and are really more of a driver preference, not an aspect of car tuning (at least in stock levels where the power is easily controllable without them).

I mean the first thing I do when I get in a new car I've bought/won is to turn TCS/ASM off and never look back until the power reaches unmanageable levels (like say a 700+hp Shelby Cobra... ). In fact, I'm disappointed that you can't turn TCS/ASM off by default in GT mode (though at least you can in Arcade mode).

Oh and as for Sedan/Wagon...it makes no difference to me. :D
