Well, that was easy...

I decided yesterday that I should get my motorcycle license.

I first needed a learners, so today I went to the MVA, took the test, and waited around for 2 hours to get the learners.

I'm one step closer to getting my license.

Just thought I would share. The test was pretty easy for Maryland, they give you 15 minutes, I did it in 6, got 21 in a row correct (you need 21 to pass).

Soooooooo.... I only HAVE to have the learners for 14 days. I am going to take a day off of work one day, and take a class and get my license in the same day :).

I'm excited! Wee!

My friend might be selling his GSXR600, I'm gonna talk to him and see what kind of deal we might be able to work out.

I need to get out and ride bikes and see what fits me best.

I haven't got much experience with bikes, so I just want to go to dealerships and sit on bikes and ride them and see what best fits me :)

Enjoy it dude. When I first got my license it was a little scary being out on crowed roads with those boats that people drive now days. Just keep it slow, watch out for everyone, and you'll wonder why you didn't get it earlier.

Yaayy. Another person with a motorcycle.
The driving test here was insanely simple. Drive once around the small parking lot, shifting at least once, while the tester sat inside at the desk. The only hard part was remembering to shift out of first in such a short ride. Nevertheless, a friend of mine learned on my bike, a 69 Honda CL 350, then borrowed a friend's new Triumph 9-something cc bike to the test. He dropped it and failed the test.
I love riding my old small bike anywhere. It even made it back from Myrtle Beach last summer (1300 miles to home) and was a blast. Just being in the open air with such a sense of the surroundings instead of the climate controlled environments of our homes and cars is great.
Good luck!

My buddy isn't selling his Gixxer like he was expecting to.

But that's fine. I am actually growing to like the Suzuki SV650S. I went and looked at them today, and they seem to be very managable in terms of size and everything.

I plan to build a three wheel car (picture a shortened stylized P-51 Mustang with two wheels in front cycle-fendered like a 7). Which will be registered as a motorcycle. I wonder if I could use that for the driving test portion.

I prefer the Ducati ladder-style tube frame. I drove a 750 SS around for a couple months last spring(until the owner wrecked it, shattering his collar bone in the process) and am seriously looking for one this summer. I found a 2000 748 Biposto in the local Cycle Trader for $3200, but something must be wrong for it to be that cheap. Retail when new was over $12,000. Most used ones sell around $7,000 to $11,000. I do still have to get my motorcycle endorsement, though. We'll see if I finally get a bike this year......

I almost lost it at a Euro bike show last fall with this hot chick I'm friends with going on about how much she wanted a bike and there was this sweet Ducatti for around $4k.

I am probably going to buy an SV650S new, since even used and 4 years old, they are only like 2 grand cheaper than new.

I can get an 05, for $6500 (MSRP). I could get an 01 (local) for $4500. Wtf?

Yea, the bikes have great resale value (that's the problem). The 01 was stock, and actually had a scratched up muffler.

I think I'll probably buy in the next month or so (I take my class on 4/16 and get my license shortly after. I might end up buying my bike the following week or two.
