Idle going up and down when clutching and in neutral. !!

Post by Gustaf »

When I press my clutch or change gear into neutral my idle drops down and then goes up again (2-3 times) before it stabilizes at around 1000rpm. I haven't noticed the same thing when the engine is cold and the cold start is in use... What could be the problem? Kindly Regards //Gustaf

I'd give it a quick check on the wire grounds. Give everything a wiggle and tighten where necessary. My figuring is that you say it's warm is when it happens- during closed loop. Josh's suggestion is very good as well, as is the "check spark plugs and tune" suggestion that will pop up eventually. This might be a toughie to find. Good luck.

I'll do a basic tuneup in the near future with plugs etc. But how do i control or service the air control valve? Could i lubricate it in some way? And about the grounding, if i have understood things right there are som kind of popular grounding mod that people do? Maybe that could be done in conjunction with the ground check for the idle problem... Is there any particular grounding spots that are worth checking or rewiring?

The IAC valve.... you can spray brake cleaner down the tube to try and remove any carbon deposits that might be causing the issues.

As for the grounding.....just double check the stock ground points.
