$268 shipped! I'm so stoked! It's been used pretty hard, but I have an ACT clutch disc and new pilot and throwout bearings for it. I plan on hitting the friction surfaces with some sandpaper. Anyone know about what grit I should use? I think I've got some 1000 grit out in the garage, I'll take a look. Also, can anyone tell me what I should torque the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts to? Since it's an aftermarket aluminium flywheel I'm not sure. I'll search around a bit, but I don't know if I'll be able to find this. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, I didn't find the specs anywhere, so I went with 55 lbs. I found some 400 grit sandpaper and sanded the flywheel. That made it really smooth still so I hit it with some worn out 120 grit. That made a nice cross-hatching effect. I got the transmission in today and have most everything hooked up. I'm missing some parts, like the nuts that go on the bellhousing studs, and some coolant lines, but for the most part that is done. I still need to get an alternater, air filter, aforementioned coolant hoses, and get the flat tire patched. The sucky part is the buddy I had help me broke the infamous coolant resevoir nipple
, but overall I think we did pretty good for neither of us having had any experience with Subbies before. Especially since we didn't take the old tranny out, and had to figure out how everything hooked up using the box of bolts/misc that was in the trunk. I should be driving it within the next couple days!

If it's been beaten on, you probably should have resurfaced the flywheel, or replace the friction surface on it.
But that's just what I would do. To late now I guess....

It really didn't look that bad, just glazed over. The clutch disk was worn quite a bit on the flywheel side, and glazed too. I'm confidate the sandpaper trick and new disk will be problem free.

Personally I would get it resurfaced. The clutch is alot more precise than say brakes. If you got it resurfaced, you would know that the friction surface is consistant across it. It would suck to get it in and three months later have some nasty chatter.
That is of course, just my opinion.
