From time to time, when braking hard or sometimes not even hard, just coming to a stoplight, the green "power" light will turn on and stay on, then when I finally slow to below 1000 rpm, or near to idle speed, the check engine light comes on.....this light will only come on when the green power light comes on aswell....then when I go to accelerate the check engine goes away, as does the green power light. I can cancel the power light while stopped by putting it into neutral, but not the check engine light, not till I take off again, then its gone right away. What on earth is that power light for and what connection does it have with getting an error code when slowing down? Vehicle : 91 Legacy Turbo, Auto
Tranny. Anyone else having this problem??
green "power" light comes on, then check engine li

I've got an auto, but not a turbo, so I can't diagnose the exact problem... but I can tell you what that light is.
The "Power" light is the Transmission Computer's version of the "Check Engine" light when there are problems with the transmission. Under normal circumstances, that light turning on means you have floored the accelerator (or jabbed at it pretty hard), therefore switching the transmission into a mode where it goes into the lowest gear it can and revs to redline before shifting.
But having it come on at a stop... that's... definitely not the normal function of that light, so maybe something's wrong with your transmission. But seeing as the check engine light's coming on too... hmm.
Gotta leave the rest of this to those with turbo cars, methinks.

Find out why the ECU turned on the Check Engine light.

The Vehicle Speed Sensor could affect both the ECU and TCU.

I've got the procedure on my site as well to pull the transmission codes.
Pull the codes for the ECU & TCU, post the results, and we can go from there.
