Sun Roof

Post by viclava »

Have 92 Legacy LS with a electric sunroof. The sunroof works intermittently. I can't figure out how to get the switch cover off to inspect or what's going on. Any help is appreciated.

using a small screwdriver, you pull the covers off the lights, there should be small screws under the bulbs.

Mine has a similar problem.

Sometimes it will open and close just fine, while other times it won't work for a few days. It's starting to get annoying......

sunroof

Yea, Well, I tore the cover off for the switches and even took apart the switch itself, which I don't really think your'e suppose to do, but I did it anyway. I found that the little pieces that slide back and forth making contact with the mini contact board, were filled with dirty grease. i thought for sure that's what it was. So, I put everythig back together and it worked... All day long, and then it was back to intermittent working again. I give up. I don't know what else.

if that helped for the day then the bigger probelm might me the board the switch is attached to.

maybe it;s time to get a new switch assembley or give the one you have a good look over witrh a multimeter.

sounds like a contact problem for shore just take it appart again and use the solid current option (sends a small amount of current through the wire or circuit and beeps when a solid connection is found)on a multimeter. this will give you a good idea of what to fix in there.

good luck

I just tried cleaning mine out, and that didn't even work for a minute.

It sounds like the switch is working, but it just can't get started moving the sunroof (I hear a faint clicking noise when I press the button, but nothing happens).

Try getting some grease on the rails and moving parts. I think it could be the motor getting tired or a safety that won't let it pull too many amps.

have you tried putting some dielectric grease in the switch on the contacts?

I had to do that on my crx sunroof switch.
