Will the 92 tails fit on a 91??

will the 92 style tail lights bolt up to a 91 turbo sedan's trunklid or do you actually need a 92-94 trunklid for this?

I believe you need the newer trunklid for them, since the center section has lights in it.

Also, I don't believe the lights will bolt into the 91's taillight holes, since they are a different shape.

I haven't tried this myself, but I remember asking about it and that's what I remember hearing.

You would need to swap quater panels too. They don't fit at all.

it can be done, but you need a new trunk, rear bumper skin and beam and would have to sorta custom mount the newer tailights into the slots( ie drill new holes and cover the excessivly large 91 holes with sheet metal). It doesn't have to be neat, since the newer bumper skin is taller and will cover your work. I looked into it when I had my 91 and it wouldn't be too difficult.

yeah the car's getting painted right after I finish all this work so that's not a big deal, if its just a matter of drilling a couple new holes I dont care, but I'm getting the new bumper cover already. Why would I need the new trunk lid, can't I just drill new holes in that also to make it bolt up or better yet not connect the lights for the trunk lid altogether? Please lemme know thanks!
