Breather tube?

Post by Tleg93 »

I was working on my car yesterday and I noticed a rubber hose coming out of the tranny that's not hooked to anything. Does anyone know if this is some kind of breather tube or pressure release? Or is it just for draining excess fluid?

Is yours an auto Scott? I don't remember.

If so, I'm guessing it's the breather tube for the front diff.

Manuals don't have this because the front diff and the tranny share the same oil, and if I remember correctly, the dipstick is actually a breather tube in itself.

Cool, thanks man. Yeah, it's an auto. I've noticed a few other things in there since I've been digging around such as missing and unconnected connectors and such. I didn't give it much thought before but since I've been getting more interested I've noticed things. Thanks again.

There should be two, one for the transmission and one for the front diff.

Thanks Hardy. I'll look for it again next time I have a chance.
