coffee mugs and MBC

Post by kidwired »

I think I'm gettng it figured out. Those w/ MBC's dont need the 5.5mm connector that goes to the selenoid? just the 7.5mm, and 19mm connectors.

Right. And if you get rid of the auxiliary purge system, you don't need the 7.5mm connector either.

It provides for purging of the charcoal canister while on boost. Basically, when manifold pressure goes above atmospheric, the auxiliary purge valve opens, connecting the canister to the intake. There's a partial vacuum in the intake between the air filter and the compressor, so it draws the fumes out of the canister.

I removed the auxiliary purge valve and switched to a non-turbo canister, and put a check valve in the main purge line just in case. My sole reason for doing so was to simplify the engine bay. It shouldn't affect emissions because the canister still purges when I'm not on boost, and I'm often not on boost.

Yeah, it should be fine. To be safe I'd say to still stick a check valve in the thin purge line (orient it to allow flow only out of the canister).
